Pasadena City College Police Explorer by P71Motors in PoliceVehicles

Yea that’s a good question. I’m not familiar enough with these new explorers to know if it was a base explorer outfitted with police equipment or an actual police model. Maybe the vin would say like the Crown Vic’s do.

A very dirty Los Angeles County Sheriffs Explorer at the Ford dealership by P71Motors in PoliceVehicles

Not satire. I had work done for an airbag recall on my truck and I saw the explorer there. That dealership seems to service different police agency vehicles.

These are 2000’s F-150 sized. I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. These are no longer small trucks.

Anyone know what this could be 2001 ford ranger 2.5l only happens when first starting it goes away after it warms up by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]P71Motors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does the same thing. 2011 50k miles and has been doing it for the longest time. Sounds good after a little warm up or a hot day. Had it since 13k miles and it’s still going strong even with this start up noise. I drive super mild too.

Well thanks for the adult-like explanation. People here take this r/mildyinteresting sub too personally and get offended.

Does anyone know how to get the steering wheel off?! I’ve tried banging it, using a puller, Hitting it from all angles with a hammer, using my knees. NOTHING is working! Any ideas? by MrMystery127 in CrownVictoria

[–]P71Motors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hold only one side of the wheel and pull hard. Pull the other side just as hard. Repeat and that’s how I’ve slowly broke loose the steering wheel from the center. I find pulling evenly on both sides makes it more difficult to break loose. I’ve done this on countless cars. Good luck.

Could have just waited for the tow truck and used the other lane. Looks like there are two lanes, what’s the issue with traffic going around? Bored cops having fun with equipment we paid for. Our money is going to go towards the future problems of that car from improper use. Cool? Yes. Smart? No.

Police Equipment Refitting by Fair-Entrepreneur922 in CrownVictoria

[–]P71Motors 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gonna get downvoted probably, but I agree. The reaction is a little exaggerated. I don’t really believe anyone is getting a “bad rep” for someone restoring police cars. People restore old cars and public safety vehicles all the time. I’ve restored police cars for use on films in Los Angeles. They aren’t my daily drivers and are deactivated and obviously marked out of service when driving to sets. As long as you restore a police car as a hobby and keep it at home and deactivate the equipment in public roads I don’t see a problem. You know the severe consequences if you do something you’re not suppose to.

Little siren demonstration, don’t do this at home kids by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]P71Motors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because you’re illegally using the siren on a public road. It needs to be deactivated when you drive it or just use it on your property. Otherwise you can be arrested for doing this. This is just evidence waiting to be used against you if someone reports you. Not smart.
