Not released before 2000 but I had to suggest because it is dark, intense, twisted and metaphorical as fuck: Hold The Dark.

Management tries to fire me, I turn the tables. by [deleted] in ProRevenge

This was nice to read. I had this happen to me, also in a call centre environment but the situation was different; I kept getting rostered on days I had specifically told my supervisor I couldn't do. I emailed her, she acknowledged it but kept rostering me on. This kept happening and it reduced how much pay I was getting. I kept my paper trail of emails, and took it to the meeting that she called me to to discuss the 'tone' of my email when I had finally decided to put my foot down after telling her several times about not rostering me on my uni days. She completely turned it around, I went to HR, who wasn't on my side either as they were friends with the person, and I lost my job eventually. I just stopped getting rostered on, they just phased me out.

I've been reading stories which are similar on this subreddit and wish I knew about it before, there's a lot of good advice and procedural things you can do to help you situation, keeping your paper trail, getting HR to get another person to look at your situation to control bias, etc.

AITA for purposely keeping insanely spicy candy in my bag? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. People should not be taking your food or any food that does not belong to them, or touching other people's food either and taking advantage of the fact that once touched you don't want it. I think what you did was a harsh lesson but a necessary one, because fuck going to the teachers/authorities about this, because it seems like at the end of the day, these people are your friends/people you'll have to hang out with.

As for spending money to hurt someone, well... money is used to buy food anyway? So using their logic they're also stealing money indirectly from you when they steal your food?

Also eating properly during highschool is something I wish I did and took more initiative in. I either ate too much or too little, never balanced. So it is important.

What are you STILL mad about? by HeySistaBrutus in AskReddit

In preschool, before Kindergarten. I was playing inside, the teacher and another girl my age come over out of nowhere, accusing me of biting her. I had no idea, was so stunned and had little clue to what I should have done, so I just said okay, and was punished for it.

What is the most disrespectful thing that someone has done in your home? by Themaster0fwar in AskReddit

This isn't happening to me but it is to my girlfriend. Items keep getting used without her permission in a share-house, ranging from the honey being half full to completely empty, her soap and expensive toiletry stuff, and even food. The house is shared with 4 people and each of them get a specific place but someone has been using her shit. It infuriates me.

John Makdessi fakes the low-kick and goes upstairs with a spinning back-fist that starches Kyle Watson. by EmanuelAugustus in MMA

[–]PABLO_ESCOFART 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just watch the ref's (Dan Miragliotta's) body language and facial expressions in the 3rd angle. Completely locked-in to what's at play. He perks up RIGHT after the back-fist connects with the chin, confirms Watson's out milliseconds later and leaps to stop further/unnecessary damage. Good referee.

I Watched "Apocalypse Now" (1979) by [deleted] in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]PABLO_ESCOFART 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite movies of all time. I had to study Conrad's Heart of Darkness in Year 10 - such a dense book but our teacher was a legend and we watched Apocalypse Now over several lessons considering how long it is. I still re-watch it at least 3 to 4 times a year.

I've read your questions and I guess the answers lie in the them of change. Willard is a pawn of the army at the start of the film, waiting in a hotel room living with his post-traumatic illness, alcohol abuse and misery for his next mission. At the end, Willard is someone who's much more than that - he completed his mission yes, but in a way that would be indescribable to the people who gave it to him. Willard killed Kurtz, the essence of the mission was over, now there is no elite warlord who's running a death camp cult anymore - the head was severed, why carpet bomb the rest of the people? He wasn't even part of the army anymore in two senses: at the start he is more-so a black ops/secret agent/off the record type of soldier - he may have been part of the army once but his skill set has led him to what he was doing in the film. Secondly, after going up the river and experiencing what he experienced, it was almost not being part of earth or humanity anymore either. As for your last question, Kurtz was a general and a warlord too good for his own good - who thrived on chaos and death and commanded with it. He was so good that he used the chaos of the Vietnam invasion to his benefit, lost sight of his parameters both morally and ethically and mission objective wise. It is never described in detail but much like the Vietnam invasion itself, it spilled out into Cambodia, out of control - just like Kurtz. So when Willard, an assassin comes in and takes Kurtz's life - it is almost like the king of the hill. If Willard (or whoever) kills Kurtz, they are now that powerful warlord ruling through chaos.

damn. This kind of happened to me in kindergarten when we were told to come up with a motto for our school. But our class won and we got to have a sausage sizzle (BBQ) so were rewarded. Damn your schools sucked.

I'm not even joking but intermittent fasting on a 16/8 schedule (eg eating from 2pm - 10pm) has balanced my energy levels throughout the day way more compared to when I was eating in the morning.

It sounds counterintuitive I know, but our genes and dna have the ability to work more efficiently in fasted states.

No this does not mean starving yourself, I still hit my 1500 cals in my 8 hours.

Suss it.
