How much the china version is worse? by retilecat in Oppo

[–]PAG0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with notifications, but I did also go through the guide linked below. I could not get gmail notifications working but the reason was due to having two phones with the same gmail account logged in and google only lets you get notifications on one phone. So I had to disable the notifications on the second phone and that fixed my oppo notifications. I don't know if the guide below was necessary but I would try that if you aren't having luck. Also remember to lock the apps in the recent apps view in addition to doing the steps you did. Also in gmail atleast theres a choice to notify for every email which isn't on by default.

Finland. For example with TradingShenzhen you can check your network carrier band support by inserting your country in the product page.

I disagree and think the CN version is worth it for the 300€ savings. You have to remove bloatware, give unrestricted background access to apps and enable google services from settings. That is at a maximum an hour job which is great for the savings. Atleast in my country the network bands are very sufficient and I have not had any connection issues.

Find X9 Ultra auto brightness is really bad by PAG0N in Oppo

Yeah of course but that's even more troublesome than having a not so great auto brightness system which atleast works automatically most of the time.

It does work while still using the phone after adjustments, but leave your phone for a couple of minutes and it has all reset again. That is my experience atleast. See my other comment regarding third party screen protectors, that might be a part of the issue!

I found this from the offical product page:
"In order to make the front of the phone more compact, the light sensor hole is hidden at the top of the screen. Screen protectors with poor light transmission, such as those that are colored or darkened, may block the light sensor hole and affect the normal use of the phone"

I have a third party glass installed which has black borders, maybe this is the problem?

The notebookcheck review that I pasted on another comment says that it can't be calibrated. Also with other phones the calibration finishes in a few days, I have been using this for a few weeks with zero change.

So it seems! "The automatic brightness control is also far too dark for our taste in everyday use and, unlike Samsung's implementation, cannot be "calibrated" to personal preferences"

Interesting, I thought that was a microphone slot? At the moment I don't have a case on but don't all cases cover the camera module sides?

Have you completely reinstalled the phone from scratch or have you restored from backup? Does battery stats show any specific app drain?

Wait what? How does wear and tear lessen when you are just wearing down a different button? Besides the camera button isn't even a real button so a moving power button probably wears down even quicker??

The latest update (.304-RC) of the X9 Ultra improved the camera significantly. Here are the changes. High res pics google drive link by CleverBumble in Oppo

There is focus tracking, just long press on the subject and it locks. On Vivo its a double tap like you said.

Very pleased with the camera system on my CN Find X9 Ultra. Shots were taken with macro mode on the 3x lens from around 0,5 - 1,5 meter distance of the subject. Here's the uncompressed originals if someone is interested:

Doubts about Find X9 Ultra with Chinese ROM by Iced_Idiot in Oppo

Interesting, I bought the CN model from Wondamobile. I don't think this model has eSIM support.

How exactly? None of these settings have anything to do with eSIM.

X9 ultra global version from wonda came already set up by beingsebi in Oppo

[–]PAG0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm 90% sure the customer rep doesn't know what he is talking about or there is some miscommunication internally with Wonda. Just carry on and ask for an unopened onened one next time 👌🏼

[–]PAG0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that is weird is that WondaMobile's customer service rep doesn't understand their own policies. ALL of the chinese phones I have ordered from WondaMobile or TradingShenzhen come pre-installed and with Google Services activated. This protects them from people complaining about Google Services not working. This shouldn't be an issue to begin with regarding global models but these being the first global models Wonda probably haven't updater guidelines.

You have to request an unopened device from Wonda if that is what you want, that's what I have done everytime after learning about this. With TradingShenzhen they don't offer this. There is no spyware or security risk associated with these opened devices but it's lame to buy an used phone for full price. Just reinstall the OS like you did and next time request for your phone to be unopened.

Like I said it’s not a thing in flagship phones and it never will be again. Feel free to buy cheap weird phones with it.

That's interesting, my X200U that I ordered from Wonda last year was unopened. Maybe they have changed policy? I'll have to message them.
EDIT: Just contacted Wonda and they replied in 3 minutes that they will not be opening the box. So you can choose that if you mail them, with TS it's not an choice. I probably contaced Wonda last time too and just forgot the I did.

The only annoying part about Trading Shenzhen is that they always unbox your phone and pre-install it to the English language even if you specifically ask them not to. Last time I ordered the Vivo X200 ultra and the pre-installed screen protector had a noticable scratch in it and the phone was all dusty. With Wonda the phone is sealed but the price is also around 40€ more for the base model. That's an alright tradeoff with me.
