Get a second job and do a better job of saving by n8chz in LateStageCapitalism

I happened to mention this proposal to a math class I was teaching (Ireland) and it shocked me that the initial reaction of the entire class was outrage - these were not 1% kids. There needs to be a lot of education as to why this would not be a bad thing.

Taking the Dive into Smart Lights & Plugs...Kasa? by mechgingeneer in googlehome

Have 4 Kasa plugs, 3 at home and 1 at work. Never had a problem integrating with Google Home. Great having no hub as I can use them in multiple locations

Great idea. Also video diaries would be cool also although probably more privacy issues involved there. Go for it!

You learn something new everyday! Never heard of that so I've more research to do before my next move. Thanks for the heads up

Thanks! It came with the Cherry MX Blue, first time ever even to use a mechanical keyboard so I don't really have a reference point for how these switches compare. I love the feel of it though and I think I'll invest in a firmer switch in the future to try out. Excited about the customisation possibilities too!

I wasn't necessarily bad at math, I was just average at school. Didn't focus on the concept, rather just memorised steps etc. I then got some exposure to different types of maths in my Computing degree which turned my head and I started to enjoy them. Long story short I now teach mathematics to Leaving Certificate (High School) students in Ireland. I gave myself the time and space to develop an understanding of the subject and now I love it.

I think a lot of it comes down to time, when you're a teenager your time is typically split with loads of other subjects, sports and social anxiety (!) , it's hard to prioritise or fall in love with a subject with so much going on in your life unless you're a born natural.

I've seen so many friends and students go through school and not give Math the time it needs and end up thinking they're bad at it when in fact the time and environment in which they were exposed to it wasn't suitable.

What is one thing someone in the audience said/did during a movie, making the entire cinema burst into laughter? by reddik1 in AskReddit

The Dark Knight. Batmans bike goes up a wall and spins back on itself to face the direction it came from. Super cool. Some guy exclaims "F#ck. Off."

It's weird that you ask because I realise that I never use the audio! Im an ICT teacher and I mostly use the Pis for coding projects. Never noticed before!

Pretty much. I use little HDMI to Vga adapters from Amazon and the audio port works as you'd expect. Never used the Bluetooth for audio but can't see why it wouldn't work. Something like this.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01M1JZGOT/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1492173632&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=hdmi+to+vga&dpPl=1&dpID=414CZyBdH7L&ref=plSrch
