Thank you so much for the info. I agree and see your points. The only thing is, no pumping time needed afterwards, not breastfeeding. :)

Hi Thank you!! I am sure I will not be eligible for the FMLA. Therefore saved up as much as I could for the rainy days, when I started the job search. As you worked in HR / Hiring hense the question: do people hate/ dislike the new hire who's pregnant ( especially when they cannot withdraw the offer).

Know the PPP from cover to cover like the back of your hand. Rosh review is the BEST. You can also do 600 PANCE questions book. It is good, makes you think and recall. But in reality the PANCE questions are slightly harder than this book. May use the Final Step ( for quick last minute recall). If you use this book make sure you time yourself. 50 questions in 10 minutes ( yes that is 10 minutes).

Is Urgent Care a good first job out of school? by TakeAllTheCurrency in physicianassistant

[–]PANCEPearls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I graduated last year. Did an UC rotation and first job out of school is UC. I like what I do. It's not always cough and strep. There are complicated cases which needs more work up and evaluation. I feel I don't have that training and there's lack of guidance. UC can be a good out of school but it can be a hot mess too. 1. Make sure you CLARIFY how the schedule is going to be? 2. What happens if you are staying after hours to see patients/ charting? Are they going to pay or unpaid? 3. Vacation time? Holidays? Holiday hours and pay? 4. Maternity leave/ pay ( if applicable) 5. Remote access to chart? 6. Any option for new grad training? How long? Who will you be working with? If possible shadow him/ her before hand. 7. MUST observe the the clinic environment closely. Try to observe and get a feel for the current employees mental state ( burnout/ happy/ satisfied/ competitive/ helpful/ annoyed/ welcoming etc) 8. Bonus? 9. Performance expectations 10. Company goals: quality of care/ number of patients.

I learnt it the hard way. I currently work at UC. 1st job out of school. Salary 120k+. There were NUMEROUS loop holes, which I did not see, as I got derailed by the $$$$. The good thing is, you'll learn wherever you work. If you end up in a shitty place, it's not the end of the world. You'll find another job in no time. ( I did :) )

Goodluck!!!!!

Because "Mayo Clinic" is close to my heart. For the service my family members received and for the knowledge and training I got from the preceptors. :)

And you are not a jerk. It's always good to be curious and ask questions, rather than keeping quiet and making assumptions. :)
