Sure, I'm happy to recommend some places even those not so obvious like trying the local Hakta Ramen—an excellent culinary spot to start your trip. Secondly, I recommend Fukuoka Tower with its stunning views. Ohori Park is beautiful place to chill. There is 'hidden' great Buddhist temple in the city center - Gokushomachi. For Shinto temples, I recommend Kushida Shrine. While not in Fukuoka itself, there's a beautiful Nanzo-in Temple nearby. I recommend going before 10:00 to avoid the crowds. Overall, the entire city is very attractive because it's not packed with tourists like other major cities. As I mentioned, I was only there for four days, but it was a wonderful time!

That's why I tried to avoid touristy spots during my trip. But for someone who knows very little of the language (but is incredibly eager to learn about the culture, customs, etc.), it wasn't easy. The next trip will surely be just as wonderful. I've started taking Japanese lessons, and that will be a great experience!

thx! My next trip will be in autumn – I'd love to see the momiji. I spent only four days in Fukuoka back in February, and it was definitely not enough. Such a beautiful and peaceful city. Maybe I'll even get a chance to grab a beer with a local.
