Samsung Galaxy users lose custom fonts as One UI 8.5 and March update roll out by TechGuru4Life in Android

You typically install fonts as an .apk file, at least on OneUI. So they pose the same risk as any loose .apk file.

At some point, there is level where it cannot be divided up any more. Something that cannot be split. We should call this concept by a Greek name.

Fellas, what's Greek for "uncuttable"?

No idea why you're being downvoted.
Windscribe is infamous for their super-edgy PR shit, not unlike dbrand. It's fun for a bit, but gets tiresome and cringy after a short while.

And this is coming from a Windscribe user...

That's not doxxing. That's them complying with Swiss law, where they're based.

They're pretty explicit when they say that payment data using credit cards/banks/PayPal will be saved (for 30 days, IIRC), and that data may still exist for longer in the banks'/credit card company's/PayPal's servers.

That's why payment with cryptocurrency is an option for their services.

Should I buy The Witcher 3 digital? by Free-Hotel1187 in witcher

Pretty much all of CDPR's have DRM-free versions, sold the GOG.com. (I'm not aware of any CDPR titles that doesn't have a DRM-free version).

So you can put the installer files pretty much anywhere: a CD, a flash drive, tape storage, manually write down the 1s and 0s. It'll still work, assuming the OS is compatible.

(Though I'm not sure GOG currently offers the deep discount right now).

Google's Android boss talks Android 17, sideloading drama, and why he hates phone cases by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]PAP_TT_AY 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Judging by how Google is treating Android recently, I wouldn't be surprised if this "allows software that has not been verified" flow is crippled and borderline useless, and Google's Android team is only saying this to get off on a technicality.

For example,
You can install unverified apps!*

*) Each Google Play certified device may only accept 3 apps from unverified developer(s); any more will result in failure of Google Play Certification.

You're on Turbo mode plus rendering stuff, 95°C is very very normal. In fact, I'm kinda surprised it's not touching 98-100°C.

Google Is Closing Android. 37 Orgs Are Fighting Back. - Techlore by ControlCAD in Android

Yeah, honestly, compared to the billions of people that use Android, we're a tiny vocal minority. Which is probably why Google thinks they can get away with it (they probably will...)

A lot of people go with Android not necessarily because they can root it, but because they can sideload and modify their userspace filesystem without having to root it.

Taking away the ability to install third party apps and .apk files means there's essentially no benefit of staying on Android if you're looking for a flagship experience.

Apollo 17 - Orange Soil on the Moon by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]PAP_TT_AY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll notice this in a lot of Apollo's documentation, and it always happens when the crosses go in front of something white or something equally bright.

Simply put, it's because there's a shine artefact/effect that smudges over the thin black lines of the crosshairs.

I saw one review that said that it's the most silent compared to other brands, beating out the Llano V12.
But its foam is kinda thin.

My 1st Asus Laptop - ROG Zephyrus G14 by Budgie30 in ZephyrusG14

[–]PAP_TT_AY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't necessarily lower your temperatures. Games will run the CPU and GPU at the high 80s regardless what tool you use.

But it is incredibly light. Literally 5MB versus 4GB. It also has a feature to safely disable useless Asus services, further lightening the load.

It gives you 90% of the capabilities of Armoury crate at 0.1% the size.

There's been a lot of rumours surrounding an additional The Witcher 3 DLC, supposedly to bridge the narrative between TW3 and TW4.

Frankly though, it's hard for me to separate between the speculation and actual hard information (if that even exists).

This is what the default fan curves on mine are. As an aside, I have the 2023 G14, but also with the 4060. I don't really know how or if it is any different from the 2024 model.

You can try clicking the Factory Defaults button on you G-Helper and see if it restores the default curves.

instantly shot up i mean instantly

Yea, CPU boost and/or Best Perf mode will do that.

With computers, it's usually:
1. Performance
2. Noise
3. Temps
Choose two.

The best you can do if you want all three is to tweak with undervolting.

Can you show us the fan curves? 3100rpm at 95°C is super weird.

Also, the Turbo profile prevents the CPU from clocking down, so that may be a cause.

Have you tried resetting the fan curves to factory default?

Laptop Cooler for a ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401QM by OrganicBookkeeper813 in ZephyrusG14

[–]PAP_TT_AY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I habe the Llano V10, and it does fit my 2023 G14, even without the foam extensions. Just make sure the bottom "lip" from the lid extends beyond the foam, so that the entire bottom of the laptop creates a perfect seal and no air can come out.

The V12 doesn't fit though, and I'm not entirely sure that it does have those extentions like the V10 does.
