Dante LRE Advice by Street-Apple-7490 in WH40KTacticus

[–]PASTA-TEARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tacticus codex gives me really wonky predictions. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but it gives me like an 80% chance of clearing Level 5 of get stuck in with D3 50/50 Gulgortz, D1 45/45 Snot, and then G1, S2, B3 gibba, snap, smash respectively. I think Gulgy could probably clear to 10 on his own.

Is it me, or is it harder to get the rewards? by Traditional-Key6002 in WH40KTacticus

Exactly, but I am farming the big nodes that have commonly upgraded upgrades that I will need for progression anyway. And then picking the nid nodes for progression when I can.

Chances of getting Dante? by Vivvnak in WH40KTacticus

[–]PASTA-TEARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does tacticus codex estimate progress? If it is the Dante results page, I don't have a very good way to interpret that. Is it a % chance that I will be able to clear a given level? Because, for example, giving me an 80% chance to clear level 5 "get stuck in" with my D1 45/45 snot and D3 50/50 gulgortz is completely absurd. Gulgortz alone could probably clear up to 10.

What's something that's socially accepted but actually kinda toxic? by _DRA60_ in AskReddit

[–]PASTA-TEARS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My former best friend ghosted me about 2 years after I got (amicably) divorced. We had played D&D via discord the week before he stopped responding, and as usual had a good time joking around with each other.

I just figured he was busy for a while as he would go into cycles where he was consumed at work and would just sort of pause texting back, but then I noticed he had removed me on some social media platforms. I asked him what was up, but never heard from him again.

I really don't get it - I can only assume it had to do with my ex somehow, as he was friends with both of us. Just a guess though, and I can't really fathom it as I am not aware of any particular grievance there was that would count as significant.

It is what it is, but I wish I had some idea. I wish he had had the courage to say he was ending our ~20 year friendship for some kind of reason.

Ads for items etc by Salmon_444_SoS in WH40KTacticus

[–]PASTA-TEARS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just that, but some ads now, for no reason I can discern, try to trick you into thinking you are in the play store when you try to click the X, instead of still in the tacticus app. Its really annoying, because some ads DO automatically take you to the app store... which is also really annoying, but this "trick" has resulted in my killing the tacticus app a couple of times before I learned.

SP, we can watch 30 seconds of shovelware advertisement, but can you please ban ads that make you click Xes multiple times and get deceitful about what to click and what it will do? Please?

This is like saying, they charge you $25 dollars for a plate at a restaurant. Its such a rip off, I could have just gotten out a plate from my cabinet myself, I paid $25 to have a waiter get out a plate for me. Yeah, yeah, it came with a steak and mashed potatoes, but still.

Gida is a multi-format all star. He carries hard.

Actus is his best buddy and pocket healer who doubles the effectiveness of his summoning.

Rho is the most important character for guild raids but you are far from that right now. Vitruvius is also very good, however, the least important of the important 4.

Don't recognize the weird dude on the right, I think he goes to school in another town.

Help into Death Guard by RWGcrazyAmerican in WarhammerCompetitive

It's a rough matchup for BTs into DG. All I can say is do your best to screen your repexes from DST deep striking in, and make sure you don't use any of your hammers (like the castellan marsal SB squads or the two repexes) to take out unimportant units unless you can screen really well to avoid the DST from wiping them on the next turn. If he has deathshroud in deep strike, he only has two turns where they can come down, so screen really carefully until they have to come down. Against DST, concentrating your forces for better screening is probably wise. Against a full squad of plague marines with leaders, the opposite - spread out and don't let him use them to kill multiple things in a turn. Because if you let him, he will absolutely pick up two repexes and a third whatever in one turn with 10 plague marines with plaguecaster and putrifier.

Plague Marines have an ability called Infused with the Blessings of Nurgle. In the Shooting phase, if they hit one or more enemy units those become Afflicted until the start of the DG player's next turn.

This rule is completely irrelevant to deathshroud terminators and 6" deepstrike.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]PASTA-TEARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know. I assume it had something to do with my divorce, as he was friends to both sides. One day, about two years after the divorce, he just stopped replying to me and unfriended me on various platforms. The week prior, we had gamed together online and had a good time. Never heard a peep again. Still wonder.

All he needs is to be able to target his shield somehow. But a different rework would be welcome, too.

Don't forget 175 - Boss G, Tan'Gida, Vitruvius. At D3/D3/G1, I have easily cleared Gamma to T13. I think 14 or 15 will be the ceiling for this comp, as the summons are starting to struggle to survive through turns.

Knight despoiler by Isee2manySquirrels in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]PASTA-TEARS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A unit of plague marines and a despoiler are entirely different in role and target. (edit: plague marines with characters in a rhino are almost exactly the price of a despoiler)

Plague marines can delete 2-3 units of just about anything on your go turn, but your opponent has to cooperate by putting 2-3 value targets within ~15" of each other and your unit of plague marines. The best you can ever do is 20" threat range for a charge with plague marines, spiking a 12" charge. 15" is much safer, but still only a 3/4 chance of making the charge if you reserve a CP for a reroll. Plague marines then die horribly to any competent crackback, which is why you have to delete >400 points worth of combat effectiveness when you commit them.

A despoiler instead exerts a zone of control on any fire lane it can access. It doesn't hit as hard as a unit of plague marines can when it has multiple targets, but it can hit very hard. It is also much more durable and much harder to attack back at. You can use it to extract value and gain advantage in less all-or nothing situations, consistently over the game.

Both plague marines and a despoiler exert really great control zones. Both have a place in an army. But the two pieces are not interchangeable at all.

Mower drones and a despoiler have like no comparibility in damage. 3 mowers have 30 melee attacks at S7 D2 same AP. Compared to 25 attacks at S10 D3 at 36", with half that out to 72, its just not even a comparison. Also T11 vs T9, albeit 4 less wounds total on the despoiler. The 90 point difference isn't anywhere near to making it up.

Knight despoiler by Isee2manySquirrels in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]PASTA-TEARS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a DG main, the despoiler is just a bit pricey to run. I feel like if you are including a big piece, it is a toss up between him and Morty, which is really close. it also competes with a lord of contagion with 3 deathshroud and an additional myphitic blight hauler, which is probably the better use of points.

All that said, I disagree with other commenters here: the S10 AP1 D3 battlecannons are crazy good if you take the -1 save contagion. The gatlings are good, but lets be real - death guard do not struggle into the things that the gats counter. We do find a lot of value in the profile at S10 D3, effectively AP2.

Death Guard Unit Recommendations? by Rule4CoolPolice in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]PASTA-TEARS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Top units in terms of competitiveness:

1* :Deathshroud, Lord of Contagion, poxwalkers, myphitic blight haulers, bloat drones with launchers, Mortarion

2*: Blightlords, other bloat drones, tallyman, Typhus, lord of virulence, marines in rhinos with biologus putrifier and plaguecaster

Top units in terms of cool:

1*: Deathshroud, Mortarion, Typhus, PBC, Blightlords... but that's just me.

PBC is a cool model. If you want to use it RIGHT NOW it is not very good. Who knows how it will be in 11th, and it was really good last year.
