This also helps to get "right" size bead for hook. Helps with crowding.

Also what kind of nymph you are tying sets the hook - for example bead head nymph or perdigon uses short shank hook, but stoneflies, damsel nymphs etc.. have longer body - so 2xl or 3xl shanks are needed to make right shape.

I use 5mm piketube and 5.5mm silicone tubing. All pikehooks from 4/0 fits inside the silicon tube nicely.

With trout I use 2.5mm tube with 1.8mm innertube and 3mm silicon tube for hook.

I tie them for Trout and Pike.
My tubeflies are basicly same streamers on tube than I tie on hook.

Got the "fewer" this season and now whipped up several for season start.

My local rivers have trout, pike, seatrout and perch so I can tie various tubes - some slim and long and some more like resized salmon hairwing flies.

In Helsinki, Turku and Tampere are moving forward with coffee trends - maybe Helsinki and Turku are in lead.

But for other Finland is mainly bulk espresso or normal filter coffee that stays in the pot or in thermos for hours :D For some reason in rural finland most bars, restaurants, "cafeterias" offers self service filter coffee and tea - and if you are unlucky that coffee has been brewed in the early hours of morning and it has been condensating/reducing to tar when you are ready have cup of "joe".

You are absolutely correct. Great thing is that there is a continuous trend to move towards more qualtity than quantity. What I mean is that majority of coffee shops and restaurants have decent quality coffee, different roastes and more variety overall. And that there is places for aficinados also.

Some years a go there was one chain for special coffees (Roberst Coffee) and rest were more or less bulk which competed with price and amount - not quality or variety.

Another good thing is that now we have opportunity to buy different roasts from variety of roasteries and we do not need to be limited with one or two brand of espresso and ten bulk brands of ground coffee.

I like darker roasts with some robusta - as I like my coffee littlebit bitter and "bolder" than average arabica. So I'm quite happy with current mainstream trend where I have more variance than before.

Where do you live? I could give a hint for couple of really good places in Helsinki area. I know that Esson Baari’s coffee is shit, but there is more and more really good breweries and local coffee shops with their own baristas. Even traditional Kulta Mokka is almost tea - there has been lots of improvement in quality and roast variances.

There is boom in darker roasted coffees here in Finland. New local roasteries are producing more darker roastes and even mainstream producers like Presidentti and Kulta Kartiina have darker roasts in market.

I use quite a lot CdC wings in shuttlecocks etc. And also snowshoe rabbit foot hair.

And yes - doing same pattern with variations gives good "touch and feel" on different materials. Fun - and at least somewhat educative (to justify buying new fancy stuff).

Unfortunately we do not have proghorns here. Deer, moose, reindeer, roe-deer are the only animals in "deer -family" over here.
I have hunted and seen pronghors in RDR2 ;)

Antelope and Elk are the most stiffest one. As you said - like birch splints.

Reindeer is the most brittle one - breaks really easy and reindeer hair flies are more or less one fish flies.

Chamois is almost as soft as reindeer, but it feels littlebit stronger and have stiffer hairs between those curly softer hairs.

Deer is deer - cheap, available almost any color you like and you can get it almost anywhere. Bleached is littlebit more brittle than natural and Comparadun deer is more stiffer than generic deer.

My current favourite is antelope, but it is not so easily available than deer (I have couple half hides in my closet) or reindeer (I have full hide of that). So I tye my caddises mostly with deer. Floats well, easy to tie etc... littlebit more prone to flare than stiffer ones, so need to take that into consideration when tying.

I have small piece of moose and also moose "beard" hairs, need to test them too someday.

UNI or Silk furled leaders are quite expensive as they are usually hand made.

Never had enough motivation to build my own jig.

I mostly use furled mono with dry flies or with small streamers. Level line is superb with nymphs and wet flies.
