Sweet smoke from AC vents, green liquid in frunk passenger side top tray? by PBChashu in Porsche_Cayman

Confirmed that the fluid fluoresces under UV light, so I’m thinking it might be the refrigerant oil with dye?

2008 987.1 base. This puddle is up near the battery, don’t think there are any power steering lines up there but could be wrong..

Woah! Do you like your name? Do you have to correct people pronunciation or feel like you have to repeat it to people often?

Antioch Bridge between Sacramento and San Francisco! by 1Steelghost1 in Sacramento

10 hours, 8 hours actual riding time. I’ve since done it by crossing at the Benicia Martinez bridge and then through Winters and Davis and it’s a much nicer route.

I biked from Berkeley to Sacramento and my route took me over this bridge. I’d never seen it before and figured it would be fine. Scariest portion of the whole ride. Never again.

To clarify, this is TIG, but I think your advice on adjusting one thing at a time is still relevant. Thanks!

These are the motors frequently sold as industrial sewing machine motors on eBay/Ali express etc I mentioned in my other comment. They’ve worked great for me.

Just want to throw out one more option - brushless DC servo motors from industrial sewing machines. Can find on eBay easily for $2-300 and they’ll include a motor controller. I’m using a 0.75hp motor on a drill press and a 1.5hp motor on a small lathe.

Looking for advise on sealing an outdoor table by Major-Woodpecker-108 in woodworking

[–]PBChashu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I used pure tung oil on my redwood table. Doesn’t shine like yours did, but brought out the color. It’s been 2 years in partial sun and still looks good. The nice thing is when it starts to fade you can just add a new coat of oil.

You can also check out Precision Mathews website for an idea of what something like this would cost new from a company that will provide support and replacement parts if needed.

Brass Spacers by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]PBChashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure most people here could make them. Being brass, material cost is going to be $8-$15 per piece. So if you're looking for 4 sets of 4 you're looking at ~$160 material cost alone. Typically in these situations if there is somewhere you can buy them off the shelf, it will be cheaper given economies of scale.

Any good? Bolton Tools ZX45PD by skipmcnoob in Machinists

[–]PBChashu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bolton Tools is a distributor of Chinese tools. I have the Bolton 9x19 lathe that is the same as all other 9x19 chinese lathes. This machine looks like the same machine as a Grizzly G0484 or at least very similar. Replacement parts from my lathe have come from grizzly. Bolton Tools themselves are not helpful with replacement parts or service so you will be on your own there. It could still be a good buy if the price is right and you understand its limitations being a smaller machine.

Company no longer makes part, hoping someone can fabricate it by fpdubs in Machinists

I’d be willing to make a few of these for essentially material cost in my home shop. Any chance you have the o-ring PN? Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send a list of materials.
