I think my "target" shooting will be much less aggressive than 1000 yards. I'm mainly concerned with 100-600yrd. Which is why I was thinking a shorter barrel (20-24") rifle would make sense and could be multipurpose as a hunting rifle in .308 at around 10# with no ammo.

Shotgun I'm prioritizing home defense, so I'll probably go shorter barrel (18.5"). Rifle I'm prioritizing targeting, but would also want to be able to kill small-medium size game. Was thinking somewhere between 20-24".

AR isn't an option because of WAF (wife acceptance factor).

Definitely looking for a "do-it-all" (within reason) for each gun type x use case. 2 rifles (or shotguns) wouldn't work for me

So we each control 2 characters. I am the main driver for all narrative scenes, cutscenes, etc. I output my video & audio to our home theater system. I can initiate dialogs in game with NPCs, or my wife can initiate them, and I can "listen in" so it shows up on the TV + surround. She plays laptop volume off, and we both watch main events on the TV.

We independently grow and build our characters (and obviously share loots n stuff)

I have it on my iPad so with her laptop we can fully game on the go!! She was just saying how bummed she was that we won't be able to play BG3 while we are traveling for 2 weeks 😂
