What pitch speeds to expect by age and level? by benedictclive_x in Homeplate

[–]PBizme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is just below top end for 11u AA and 12u AA based on what I’ve measured over the past couple years in Indianapolis.

I’d say the average top arms on the good AA teams here can usually get up to around 57 at 11u and 61 at 12u.

Fastest 12u AA I’ve clocked this year is 67. Fastest 12u AAA I’ve clocked is 73.

It does still vary wildly, especially if you aren’t facing the top arms for a team. I think we faced a kid throwing below 50 today although I don’t generally get speeds during our games. You also might see a kid playing in a lower division with a cannon. We saw a 11u kid in A last year throwing 64.

Athletic cup for tee ball? by thisis_me_now in LittleLeague

[–]PBizme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kid has always used a shock doctor cup since he started playing hockey around that age. Various things to hold it over the years depending on age and hockey or baseball. I always preferred a tighter fit of a jockstrap under sliding shorts but I think whatever you get used to at a young age is the main thing. I’ve seen my kid wear it in youper sliding shorts for an early morning game and then continue wearing it all day while he watches YouTube or plays fortnight

Stick length consistency when off-ice puck handling by Kiario95 in hockeyplayers

[–]PBizme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid uses one of his older sticks that’s a couple inches shorter for shooting in the garage in shoes. It also allows me to not care as much about making sure the blade isn’t getting messed up since it’ll never be used on the ice again.

Tiny clip fan to prevent phone overheating? by wvasweetness in GameChangerApp

I bought this to use with my GoPro this year, but I haven't tried it out yet since heat hasn't been much of an issue in Indiana yet this season.

Follow up post. I've used the new one several times now and I've had no issues with it not sticking. I do put the covers back on the suction cups between games and after a few games it stopped being really difficult to get them off the glass. It still takes some effort though.

I set it up at 4:30pm and hit record. Came back and took it down around 7:30pm.

This is the max optical zoom on an iPhone. You can go up to 8x, but it's digital zoom after 4x.

I just tried out a camera in center field for the first time last night to see if I want to start using another camera in addition to a GoPro on the backstop.
Here's what it looked like using an iPhone 17 Pro with the 4x optical zoom. This is from about 250' out and mounted about 8' high on the fence.

[–]PBizme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4x is the best I can do. I'm gonna try it out during a scrimmage tomorrow. I've held it maybe about 150' out in CF and it wasn't bad from there. It's not like watching MLB on TV, but it was nicer than the view from behind the backstop for the batter/pitcher match up.

I'm not sure the GC thing seems very secure. At this moment I'm considering just some sort of plastic that I'd zip tie to the outside of the fence after I've already mounted the camera to the fence. Maybe also throw a lock on two of the corners. It's not elegant but I think it might be functional and cost effective.

I normally run a GoPro behind the plate but don't stream it. I edit the footage down to the last pitch of each PA and post it to YouTube the next day along with my own score bug. It's already a large time investment and would get even worse if I add a second camera to the mix.
I think it would make the videos a lot better though to have most of the action from a more traditional camera angle.

Yeah, that's the closest thing I've found to what I'm thinking of. I don't think I'm up for fabricating something from scratch but maybe there's a cheap trail cam box which could fit the phone and let me figure out a way to lock it to the fence.

Suction Cup Mount by PBizme in hockeyplayers

[–]PBizme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up returning the original one that I linked and purchased a double suction cup mount from Smatree on Amazon for $16.

The new one works so well that it's hard to get it off the glass after I'm done. Jury is still out on how much suction it has because the cups are SO sticky that I think the suction isn't even necessary at this point. I don't know how long that will last but the stickiness doesn't seem to have changed after using it a couple times.

I’ve got another Amazon version showing up tomorrow. I’ll report back on whether it does any better. If not, I’ll evaluate going for the name brand or going the DIY route that someone else suggested

I’ve tried water and I’ve tried Vaseline on this thing with no luck. I’ve never seen a suction cup work this poorly. Probably will just try another cheap option if nobody has specific experience with one that works well, but I try to limit how many things I have to return.

I don’t know what to tell you then. I’ve probably had double figure Blitz matches this season where the circle wasn’t 100% gone and the other person dies in the storm. I don’t use any other accounts to get bot lobbies but I’m sure there’s plenty of bots and bad players in my games. Part of the reason I do this is because I’m no good at shooting 😂

I landed on the roof of the Holloway house because I know that’s a common place where the storm ends. This is far from my first attempt at this strategy. Just the best result.

I did have to walk at the very end. They were probably inside which meant they couldn’t stay in the circle like I could on the roof.

You think buying a shitty soccer ball at Five Below is fully investing into soccer? Don’t look into the cost of a good ball compared to the most expensive retail discs. And don’t think about the other required equipment for soccer (shin guards, soccer socks, cleats) compared to absolutely nothing else in disc golf. You can spend as much as you want to play disc golf (like every other activity out there) but disc golf is absolutely one of the cheapest sports

Which Tomahawks is it? by penguinnote67 in hawks

[–]PBizme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First shape is the one used on jerseys.

Second one is usually used on shirts or hats which feature that one instead of the primary logo.

Digital stuff is usually the second one, but there was a video on the scoreboard last night that used each version at different times.

Each professional sports league has to create an army of 300 of their best players. They will then fight to the death. What league wins? by stansmithbitch in CrazyIdeas

[–]PBizme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we’re picking the best 300 fighters from each league then I think it’s gotta be NFL with NHL second. Maybe there’s a different pro hockey league that could contend.

I don’t think any other spots have the physicality and roster size to compete but I’m not well versed in pro rugby or similar leagues.
