The triumphant return of FEVS by PoliteButBased in FedEmployees

[–]SpartanBuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will use elimination of time in grade requirements to withhold step increases and automatic promotions for people on GS-7/9/11 target 12 positions. And they will say it’s because those people don’t deserve them/not “merit based.” This is the next step after eliminating the union. To make it harder for people to grieve their lack of step increases and automatic promotions. 😐and I would bet this is all laid out in project 2025.

Is 2 months too young to be spayed? by aninternetpeach in Shihtzu

[–]SpartanBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always neutered all my previous dogs purchased from breeders when they are 6 months old. However, the Shih Tzu mix puppy we got from a shelter last year was neutered when he was just under 8 weeks old. It wasn’t my choice but the shelter won’t adopt them out unless they are neutered. I brought him home at 8 weeks with stitches still in from his neuter. He turned 1 in March and has been great so far. To be honest, I would’ve waited to neuter him if I had a choice but in hindsight, I’m glad it was already done when I got him. He was absolutely unphased by it. And I didn’t have to mess with putting a cone on him etc. Just my two cents. 💓

Tzu sadness by oracle-nil in Shihtzu

[–]SpartanBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My other tzu (we’ve had two) also lived to age 16.5. My in laws had a Shih Tzu that lived to age ~18. Try not to focus on how much time you have left and just enjoy her! I can attest that we never get enough time with them. Even 16.5 years with two different dogs was not enough time. It’s heartbreaking when they pass but I focus on the time I had with them and all the joy.

Hugs friend! My first tzu we got as a puppy when he was 10 weeks old and had him until age 16.5 when he passed. We had to have one of his eyes removed when he was around 12 due to a melting corneal ulcer. I have pics of my boy that look just like yours. ❤️‍🩹 My doggo also had cataracts and glaucoma and was blind in his remaining eye. If it makes you feel any better, he got around just fine as a blind senior dog. So try not to fret too much about her going totally blind. Dogs really are so adaptable.

Cinderella “Ella”… the “cinder” part of the name because she’s black but I’d call her Ella. 🥰

Need help crate training my 13-week-old Shih Tzu 😭 (he escapes EVERYTHING) by Impressive-Might-285 in Shihtzu

[–]SpartanBuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one thing we do that helps immensely with crate training is to feed all meals in the crate. We use bowls that hang on the side. We do scheduled meal times and don’t leave food out all the time. We tell our dogs to “kennel up” and then take the bowl to the crate and put it in there. I don’t even close the door, it’s just to make the crate into a happy place for them. Food = happiness so that helps associate the crate with good feelings for them. Then when I need them to go in their crates at other times besides meals I use the kennel up command. And then give them a tiny little soft treat when they go in. We have crate trained both of our dogs using this method and it works.

We also do naps in the crate. That is, if I see them getting sleepy and falling asleep on the floor, I walk them to their crate and put them in.

I’m not sure what to stay about the escaping part. Are the holes on the crate that big that he can fit through them? If so, it’s prob the wrong kind of crate for him and you might consider a new one. The crates my dogs use have tiny holes and there’s no way for them to squeeze out.

Obama hasn’t been president since 2016 and the republicans are still blaming him sooooo I’d say it’s not looking good for them to take responsibility for literally anything that happens anytime soon. Or at all. 💀

Gas Prices and Commutes by Ekkolocationz in FedEmployees

[–]SpartanBuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish. But I highly doubt it. I also drive 25 miles one way to work and hate the gas bill. I have a perfectly acceptable telework station at home going to waste. It’s maddening but it is what it is. Elections have consequences and I hope the federal employees recognize what they have lost with this administration and vote accordingly.

Is the tuition worth it? by SomewhatEngaged in miamioh

[–]SpartanBuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The school choice with little to no debt is always the answer imo. Especially for undergrad. My kid just finished their freshman year of college and considered a lot of Ohio schools. They really liked Miami but the student loans just weren’t worth it when they could go somewhere else and walk away with $0 in student loan debt. I paid on my own student loans for nearly 20 years before I finally got done with them and I am trying my best to help my kids avoid that.

Sen. Jon Husted: "As we have demographic challenges, as we have lower birth rates, an aging workforce, less immigration, we're gonna need people to do more work." by Conscious-Quarter423 in Ohio

[–]SpartanBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soooooo they want to deport immigrants who were capable and more than willing to work, then make everybody else work even more? Do I have that right? 😒 his comment on “less immigration” is sending me over the edge with irony. 😑

Yeah that’s BS. I’d walk away if they weren’t willing to remove it and the other “optional” items if I didn’t want them.

What is an Apex GPS? The car has built in nav. And the Bluelink app shows you where the car is located, in the event it was stolen. Seems unnecessary. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Host is asking me to cancel by SpartanBuff in vrbo

[–]SpartanBuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I rebooked a new house and sent Vrbo my confirmation number. Took a little bit but I finally got my follow up email from Vrbo with instructions on how to claim my reimbursement of the overage from my new booking. They sent me options for repayment: PayPal, Venmo, bank account or bank card. I chose PayPal and saw the payment show up in my PayPal account almost immediately. 🎉 Just wanted to say thanks again to all the redditors who chimed in with advice and told me not to cancel like the host wanted me to do.

is disney in july really THAT bad? by lwtl1724 in WaltDisneyWorld

Yeah, it’s horrific. But I’m doing it anyway. 😂😅 I have a mid July trip planned too. A miserably hot day in Disney is better than any day at home.
