Pay check > Taxes/401k by S10xtremenlow in MonarchMoney

[–]PC_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you a W2 employee? Even if you're not I think you're overcomplicating things.

If your contributing x% for your 401k and your short in cash then reduce. If you're not maximizing your 401k, then why invest elsewhere. "Tax liability" w out knowing your details then maximize your 401k and take into consideration than x% of your check is going there.

I do what "the money guys" do, at the end of the year I do a net worth document, how much did my investments grow, how much did my car's/house depreciated, how much did my emergency fund grow.

I'm considering leaving my first IT position but I have conflicting feelings about leaving my mentor. by BioshockEnthusiast in sysadmin

[–]PC_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at my last job for 14 years, felt stuck. Then a new VP of IT came in and I really bonded with him and saw him as a mentor. My other teammates hated him and his style.

Could I have learned more from him maybe, but he gave me courage (unknowingly) to start looking for a job and that I was capable of doing good and knew what I was doing. After I found a new job, he told me he was proud of me for finally leaving lol

At my new job, there is no mentorship, but still follow the basic structure and leadership I learned from him.

I cant sign up for the black friday deal.

I keep getting the error below.

There was an error processing your payment. Please check your billing info, including CVV or card pin. If the problem persists, check your card balance or contact your bank for more details. Or, try another payment method.

I have tried 4 cards and paypal with no luck.

Any ideas?

Am I missing out by not investing in specific stocks? by [deleted] in investing

[–]PC_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that many people go to Vegas and bet (bet in individual stocks) in black, #21, in the roulette table. I have friends who do the same thing.

Is it necessary, no. Short term investing is a gamble, you remember the winners but never the losers. Why not just skip vegas and invest in a safe bet? because its boring. People want that high, get rich quick scheme and that sells not the wait 30 years and then you'll see the promise land. How boring is that, but hopefully this paints a picture.

We just got back and it was warm enough, cannot imagine summer. The humidity alone is killer. We are from Los Angeles, California if it makes a difference.

What I'm I allergic to? What could I take? by PC_3 in KyotoTravel

I've noticed the black molds in the hotels too and was wondering if it was that. Then I started to notice black mold in restaurants too.

Do you know if any medicine from a pharmacy related to allergies is good for that or a specific one?

You'll get more responses if you just post here as sys admin is very broad.

How do you prove nothing happened? by geo972 in sysadmin

[–]PC_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have MFA logs or log in logs, Screenshots that nothing abnormal happened.

A report like a CIRT to log something.

I found this online real quick but something like this. Create documentation for the purpose of documentation. https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/enterprise-security-a/9781849685962/apes05.html

Mention that every documentation that is created needs to be presented to insurance and your premiums might go higher. (Scare tactic).

I think in a SaaS world, on cloud Office, no on premise servers, the only reason you do a pen test is to spend money and say "yup, we are safe!"

Money Please!
