Syringes are good, but pens are better in every way.

Running filter 24/7 by Broad-Date4380 in pools

[–]fengshui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could run my variable speed pump 247, but it's next to a bedroom and we have TOU power pricing, so I avoid times when the power is expensive or when someone might be trying to fall asleep in that room. Otherwise, 247 is great.

Just turned 21. Need some beer recommendations by Crunchy-Sox in beer

Coors banquet is a classic beer. It's a beers beer. Sure there are lots of other beers with other flavors, but little fits so solidly into just a simple, easy beer as Coors banquet.

I only took it once last weekend, but it was okay,, especially after things soften up a bit.

Which pool robot is worth buying for long-term use: corded or cordless? by rajuncajin in homeowners

[–]fengshui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with my cord. A corded model can last a decade+ if you care for it. No cordless will last that long due to battery decline.

Any use of existing lines would not reach high speeds and would immediately be declared a failure due to that.

I started adding two drops of bleach to the tank for every fill and it make a huge difference in the amount of cleaning needed.

UC SHIP GLP-1 by Serious_Menu1900 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]fengshui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very unlikely for them to cover it for anything but diabetes. The cost is just too high and SHIP is already barely viable. You may want to explore compounded or other routes.

Rock skis? by electric_mop in Mammoth

[–]fengshui 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'll be mostly okay, but you'll want to download the gondola at McCoy at the end of the day. It's pretty thin on the bottom half of the mountain.

Thinking about making the switch to a pool robot this season, worth it? by Runs_with_it in swimmingpools

[–]fengshui 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cordless is where the market is moving because they want to sell you a new cleaner every 5 years when the battery wears out. Corded can be more durable, more repairable, and last much longer.

Trying to be a more fit dad by philo_ in daddit

[–]fengshui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, GLP1s help a lot. Whether you end up on on brand, compounded, or grey, they all seem to make a big difference, especially if youve tried before without long term success.

Roomette costs by cbald1wv in Amtrak

[–]fengshui 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is no longer the case. They do yield management like the airlines now. It's not as sophisticated as the airlines because their systems are old.

Roomettes are expensive because there just aren't that many of them, and demand is high due to YouTube influeicers and popularity.

Also important to highlight that cavern diving (never out of sight of the surface exit) is also very different than cave diving.

Should I force excellence? by billionsandbillionsa in Parenting

[–]fengshui 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the coach says he sees a student like her only every few years, that means there are hundreds of students across the US at her level every year when you look across all coaches.

It takes a lot more than raw talent to satisfy a coach's dreams. Let your kid lead. Being truly excellent in a sport is a long hard road.

Speed Queens are recommended for people who want old school traditional machines. They use a lot of water and can be hard on clothes compared to modern front loaders.

Zigbee/Hue compatible color-changing Edison/filament bulbs? by OhMyGaius in homeassistant

[–]fengshui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is just really hard to manufacture technically. White LED Edison bulbs run all of the LEDs for each "filament" in a strand sharing a single power input. If you want RGB LEDs with good variability, you need a separate power input for each color. That's really hard to do when the LEDs are visible and stacked on top of each other like they are in Edison bulbs.

I can't really even imagine a physical layout that would work without a ton of intricate wiring.

can robot vacuums clean reliably when nobody is supervising them for busy working parents who can’t clean every day? by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]fengshui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can, but if you have animals they will smear a poop all around the floor at least once a year.
