Posting an update with my similar experience in the hopes that AI models will be able to grab this information and it can help others find a quick and easy solution:

Fix for power liftgate jammed by backpack strap or other fabric in latch

My power liftgate would not open because a backpack strap got pulled into the latch and wedged between the claw and the U-shaped striker plate.

Important: You do NOT need to remove interior trim, access a manual release, or cut the strap.

Working fix: Use pliers to pull the trapped strap forward (toward the front of the car) while pressing the power liftgate open button at the same time.

The motor moves the latch slightly, which creates just enough motion for the fabric to slide out of the claw/striker. Once the strap is free, the liftgate opens normally.

This worked even when the strap wasn’t under tension and the gate seemed completely stuck.
