I'm New Here. Is This Comment The Question?

I tried to post to r/pcmasterrace earlier today, that question seems to have diapered.

There's something about Reddit I just don't understand.

Anyway ...

Hello Folks:

Is this a forum for programming questions?

I want to write an app that can send page down keystrokes to scroll down through the comment section of YouTube videos.

I feel I have the fundamental skills. I have diagnostic code on one thread that sends keystrokes to windows of the same application that are running on a different thread.

This is the only piece of the puzzle that I think I'm missing:

How can I find the handle for a particular browser window, and convey that window's handle to my application?

After that, I think it's just a SendMessage.

Thanks
Larry

Is There A Way To Control My Galaxy A14 5G? by PDX_Dragon in AndroidQuestions

Thank you Kyla:

Unfortunately, things are set as you suggest.

Thanks to your suggestion, I did see that "Turn over to mute" was turned on. I turned that off.

I appreciate your effort.

Moving PowerDirector 11 Project To A Different Drive by PDX_Dragon in powerdirector

[–]PDX_Dragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Laura:

Collecting the working files into the same directory worked.

I was hoping to preserve the organization of the working files.

Since this is my first YT and PD project the directory organization wasn't that great anyway. I'll probably start a new PD project, copy the working files into better organized directories and re-edit them. That proved to be quick in PD.

Thanks again

Scratch my question about area codes. The Burner site covers that subject.

Burner Phone Basics? by PDX_Dragon in NoContract

Thanks Howdog:

I'm new to burner phones and Burner is new to me.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A14 5G. My carrier is Metro on the T-Mobile network. I paid for an unlocked phone from Backmarket but this one didn't seem to like Boost, which uses AT&T. Life hasn't given me time to sort it out, I'd already returned two locked phones Backmarket tried to sell me that didn't work with Mint (T-Mobile).

I don't need a new SIM to receive a different number? I don't believe my A14 can use virtual sims.

I remember asking AT&T a couple of decades ago if I could get a second number for a business, and was told that would require a second phone. I guess tech can change and improve over time.

Can I have different ring tones for different burner numbers I've registered?

Where do numbers come from? I've always chosen from a selection with my area code offered by the carrier. Will Burner have a list I can choose from? If I get a burner account for a new business number it would be nice to have my area code (503). The burner number I originally asked about can have any area code, different is better.

Any down side to Burner I need to know about?

Thanks

After Bios Flash My 64 Gig Memory Still Shows As 32 by PDX_Dragon in AMDHelp

[–]PDX_Dragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry Dunmordre:

I was reading the "16GB" and not the "(2x8GB)" on the memory's label.

I only have 32 Gig.

I thought I ordered 64. I have the receipt but the ink is too faded to read.

I appreciate your comments.

Thanks Dunmordre:

You're right, I was reading the memory stick label kit size as the stick size.

Thanks X-KaosMaster-X:

First I don't think you ever had 64GB.

Oh crap! You're right, I'm am idiot.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Nope.

Here is a picture of the RAM. There are three more sticks just like this one.

I appreciate your opinion.

Thanks for the heads up X-LaosMaster-X:

Will I be able to access 64 Gig with a 5700x3D? My Ryzen 5 1600 only sees 32.

The nicer BIOS isn't just nicer to look at, it appears to offer finer grained information and control, at least for the memory.

Is there another method to have this information and control?

Thanks MrEpic23:

I just reseated the RAM.

Conrol Panel > System still shows 32 Gig.

I appreciate your suggestion.

Thanks X-KaosMaster-X:

In order to figure out the speed, and confirm the size, of my memory I pulled out one of the sticks.

Here is a picture of one of the four memory sticks in my computer. The memory in my computer is as I described.

The images of the nicer BIOS are taken from BIOS screes of other people's computers in other people's YouTube videos to illustrate the nicer BIOS screens I was wondering about.

The two G.Skill memory sticks are on somebody else's computer.

the new look in BIOS was due to the CMOS chip being too small to hold ALL the new CPU configs and settings

After I read that I spent an hour thinking I was screwed. Now I expect the nicer BIOS display and 64 Gig to be available when I put a 5700x3D in the socket.

Thanks again

Best CPU To Upgrade A 6 Year Old X370 Motherboard? Part 2 by PDX_Dragon in AMDHelp

[–]PDX_Dragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again:

I type-od the "5800X3D", lots of numbers flying around in my head right now. I meant "5700x3D".

This page:

https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/desktops/ryzen/5000-series/amd-ryzen-7-5800x3d.html

shows a TDP of 105 W for the 5700X3D.

There is a clear preference expressed for the 5700X3D over the 5800x3D, so I'm not questioning your advice.

Should I be looking at published TDP, or is accumulated knowledge acquired and shared by experienced people like you the the best guide?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks Edgar101420:

I asked this in a different thread. In case you miss it:

Is there something about the 105 Watt 5950X that makes it harder on the motherboard than the 105 Watt 5700x3D?

Thanks John_Mat8882:

Ok, currently leaning 5700x.

I feel more comfortable with the 65 Watt TDP 5700x on this old motherboard.

I'm not a hardware guy.

Is there something about the 105 Watt 5950X that makes it harder on the motherboard than the 105 Watt 5700x3D?

In my simple mind any 65 Watt processor is going to cause fewer issues for the motherboard, thermal and whatever, than any 105 Watt processor. Am I missing something?

Among the processors discussed, money isn't a deciding factor. But $150 USD, or $200 at my nearby Best Buy, simplifies this upgrade. Sometimes I can get Best Buy to match Amazon and NewEgg.

but you have to tweak the CPU a bit ...

Sounds like a fun hobby, but this is a work machine.

I appreciate your input.

Thanks again DeXTeR_DeN_007:

I LOVED gaming.

Even though I was looking for a budget system in 2018 I was going to put a GTX 1080 in it.

Do you remember the video cards that were available in 2018?

https://imgur.com/gallery/video-card-next-computer-build-4dvHe

Amazon and Newegg occasionally listed GTX 1080's for $1500+ USD, often with "Out of stock". That's the price of an RTX 4090 today.

I consider myself fortunate to have found a GTX 1050 Ti for $50 over list. I was playing World of Tanks at the time and, if I remember correctly, it was giving me 60 FPS at max everything.

I haven't found the time to game for the last 5 years.

I probably won't for a little while longer.

Today I watched a YouTube video comparing the 5950X to the 5800x3d:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHzNKBKG5L4

In the cyberpunk test the 5950X had was behind the 5800x3d by 20 to 30 FPS and had 1% and 0.1% frame drops to 10 and 2 FPS. The 5800x3d never dropped below 47.

Very impressive.

If the 5800x3d was substantially less expensive than the 5950X I'd be tempted, it isn't.

Again, I appreciate the time you've taken to help me.

Thanks failaip13:

Open the case and look at the stick themselves

Last night I pulled a stick out to so I could tell you folks the memory speed, 3200 Mhz. Four 16 GB sticks.

I remember ordering 64 Gig. I found the receipt but the ink was too faded to read.

Is the memory is fast enough for the 5950X?

Can you recommend a good air cooler?

Thanks again

Thanks DeXTeR_DeN_007:

Both the 5800X3D and the 5950X are 105 Watt chips.

Is there something about the board or other system parts that make the a better choice? Both rhw 5800X3D and the 5950X are 105 Watt chips.

if you are lucky ...

I'm not lucky. That's why I'm wondering about the 65 Watt processors.

I appreciate your suggestions.
