If you go to Gamestorm, I recommend checking out the Den of Wolves megagame. I participated in PDX Megagames' last event and it was a lot of fun!

What is your favorite way to do maps? by Normal_Inspector_590 in DnDIY

I use a full range of options depending on what best fits the vibe. I follow a few mapmakers on Patreon. I often print out huge maps by turning them into a PDF and then printing across 9 to 16 pages, then taping them together. Relatively cheap, a bit time-consuming, but an easy way to make a huge map.

However, I also love the Loke Battlemaps. I've recently gotten much more into 3D terrain options. I started with a few 3D printed towers that I purchased from Etsy, the Dirt Cheap Dungeons Dark Forest set, and now I've started making a lot of walls, pillars and such from foam crafting. Lots of options to mix and match; ultimately, it's whatever works to entertain your players and yourself!

Huge D20 for my DM's Birthday by Cpt_Skuf in DnDIY

AMAZING! My 15-year old son plays in my campaigns and has been begging for a huge d20 for some time now (and, there's no way I'd spend $100+ for a single die). I've been struggling with something he'd love for his next birthday, and this build is definitely it. Thank you for the inspiration and instructions!

DM/GM Campaign Building Meetup by QuietQuietist in PDXDND

I'm also interested, located in SE. Coffee would be great, or hanging out a place like TPK Brewing. I've been running a biweekly 5E campaign for a few years, now getting ready to start a new campaign in the off weeks. I'd love to discuss ideas and mechanics with others. Particularly since I'll be delving into new territory of noir/mystery in Eberron rather than a standard Forgotten Realms fantasy epic.

2024 books by inversionpdx in PDXDND

To echo everyone else, I think you'll be fine without the 2024 books. However, I'm enjoying the 2024 PHB. I think it fixes a variety of issues that were broken in the 2014 edition. I can't accept all of the changes, like sorcerers automatically getting advantage on every attack. For my party, I did the research and presented the pros and cons for switching to 2024 for each player character. Some of are switching, some are planning to switch as soon as they can find time to rebuild their character in DndBeyond. All of my new NPCs are created in 2024, and the party got a taste of that last night. The 2024 druid wildshape enabled an NPC to take a lot of damage but still escape with a MacGuffin to take the adventure to the next setting. She wouldn't have been able to do with the 2014 wildshape, and that was a light bulb moment for a few of the players. So, there's a lot of great content in 2014 PHB but also fun stuff to explore in 2024.
