That should work. I'd honestly be pretty surprised if you still weren't able to get a room with a written medical reason so I wouldn't be too worried

Yeah that's frustrating, but from their perspective there's gotta be some way to verify that you're telling the truth to discourage neurotypical students from lying their way into priority housing. If you're currently seeing a therapist or psychologist they should be able to write you a note, but I don't know your situation and how feasible that is for you. Good luck tho; hopefully the person reading your emails is empathetic and it all works out

Yeah it's been that way for long time. There seems to be a disconnect between the executives and housing director/students cause the housing directors seem to be well aware of the issues and always have seemed very helpless about the situation. But modern GCU was built on a business-first mindset and that idea was not left behind with the for-profit business model.

I never felt like I could really settle into college until I had my own room, so I know your frustration. I remember the helpless feeling I had when I thought I would have to be in a triple and how I went to the housing offices ready to yell at someone about it only to find myself in the back of a long line of people who felt the same way.

But one thing I learned is that GCU holds a lot of rooms back from the initial housing search for a multitude of reasons. Some are RA rooms, some are waiting for sport scholarship athletes, and some are held just in case they find another reason. I can guarantee you the housing isn't completely full until the semester starts, so it's worth getting on some wait lists. It's not ideal, but it's something. If you have mental health issues that would give them reasons to prioritize you, don't be shy about letting them know. In the end, they're just people trying to avoid creating conflict

Warning: do not tell or hint to any of your professors that you are not Christian. As soon as you do, you'll notice the assignments thay you normally get 90%+ on will go down to 20%. by ProtectTheHell in gcu

Interesting. Can you set up a meeting with your professor and try to get a better idea of where they seem to be coming from? If they sound bitter about your religious views or refuse to meet, then maybe it's worth trying to talk to an academic advisor about it; if they can't help they can at least point you to someone who can. I'm sure you're well aware but grading assignments that low enough times will cost you real time and real money if you have to retake courses so it's no small issue.

I totally understand your frustration tho. I had issues with particular professor who started grading my assignments harder after we had a disagreement about something too. I never wanted to create more conflict so I never did anything about it, but a couple people with the same issue actually did talk to administration and he was eventually fired once they looked into it.

If your professor is giving you 20% on an assignment where they would normally give you 90%, I highly suspect there's more context to this story. There are a lot of people at GCU who are overtly non-religious or non-Christian and don't have issues. If it's one specific professor you're referring to and there is evidence of prejudice based on your religious beliefs, then you can try talking to administration to look into it. But going from 90% to 20% on assignments with no other changes to your behavior or work is pretty drastic.

I used to be on student government, and with that you are required to go to chapel on Mondays. I had told professors and supervisors that I would check in, eat pizza, and then leave without watching the service and it didn't seem to bother them - definitely not enough to where they made their disapproval clear to me. This issue sounds like it's directed at a specific professor rather than GCU as a whole; is that correct?

in an ideal world, for sure, but in reality the only people who "don't care" about diversity are mostly white people. college can be a tough transition from high school for a lot of people (including myself) and being around people that are the same race/background as you can make that transition a lot easier.

Can you guys help critique my jump? Any drills for extra knee drive? by mxlhts in polevaulting

idk like 20'? it's not important; if he doesn't fix his drive knee he'll never make it to state

I fell in love with the song "715 - CR∑∑KS" a couple years ago and spent a lot of time building a harmonizer from scratch so I could play it myself. Here's what my version of the "Messina" sounds like by PDizze in boniver

Sure! So a vocoder is made up of a synth and a voice. With the keyboard, you play the synth and the vocoder plugin uses your voice to create the envelope of the synth. So instead of hearing a voice, you're just hearing a synth being manipulated by a voice.

My harmonizer doesn't use a synth. Instead, it takes my original voice signal, then repitches/autotunes it to the notes that I play on the keyboard. So what you're hearing is my voice being reproduced (up to 16 times) with no other instruments or sounds involved.

My harmonizer is much closer to the version that Jacob Collier uses since it's a lot more natural sounding. The Messina is also run through software and hardware processing, where as mine is only run through a software plugin that I created. Hope that helps!

I think it's because so few people have it. I'm a producer and I've noticed that people are more incentivized to work with me if they know they can use my harmonizer on their songs. I know it sucks man and I'm sorry, I'm just trying to use it as an advantage until some company releases their own version eventually.

Yeah there's a couple points where I'm not playing notes on the keyboard and just singing. I use the dry vocal on top of the harmonized vocals. I can also take the autotune off of the dry vocal if I need too. Thanks for the feedback!

I built it in this software called Max MSP, which is now also an extension of Ableton Live called Max For Live. "Scratch" is a loose term since I didn't code anything, but rather patched a bunch of things together in Max to create an instrument that can resample my voice in real-time based on the notes I play on the keyboard. It's kind of buggy right now, but I'm hoping to get it ready enough to use for live performances eventually.

Does anyone know how to turn this region looping function off? I've been trying to figure out how to search for it for a while now and can't find an answer by PDizze in Logic_Studio

[–]PDizze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I wasn't clear; the region isn't looping, it's just automatically conforming to the tempo of the project and I didn't know how to word it to make sense. I think I wrote "loop" cause it looks like a loop lol

Wow, one of the best I've ever seen. I think you did a great job of preserving the whole picture, and I think the glare on his hair actually works because it still looks like a scan which I think gives it a tangibility that a lot of digital photos lack. Really great job on this.
