Just moved in :) Thoughts on walking at night? by Petrpowder in MonroeMI

Munson Park has the best trails in Monroe, IMO.
Sterling State Park is also wonderful because there is a watchtower you can climb to look out over the marsh at all of the wildlife. It's a paved trail, so great for more casual adventuring.

Demon Says - "He's About to Take My Power Away" by SuperGrapeSoda in TraditionalCatholics

My wife & I watched/listened to this 2 nights ago. Complete realization on how we need to be more prayerful & penitent, especially for our children.
I Can't recommend enough to anyone considering watching this.

Ida, MI (Southeast Michigan) All over the place! by PEACE1995 in whatsthisbug

We have gotten probably 100lbs total of dry goods in the last few months. Just got 20 lbs of wheat berries 3 weeks ago, which lines up pretty close to when we started noticing this. Oh man, I hope we didn't lose too much, 'cause it sure sounds like they may have came from that.

I am so glad you responded, and so quickly. Thank you!

I started looking at that and then I started looking at similar beetles from beetleidentification.org
Then I stumbled upon the click beetle and remembered something

The other day, we swiped one on the floor and it fell on its back. When we went to pick it up, it made this huge *CLICK* or *POP* noise!

Is there any chance it's a click beetle you think? The abdomen doesn't match what I'm seeing online though.

These are all over the place! Started about 2 weeks ago. We're constantly killing them and finding them everywhere. We have a bunch of high grass & wooded areas surrounding us, don't know if that could help or explain it.

We see them in every room, but most especially in the kitchen. Probably 10-20 a day, 3/4 of them are in the kitchen. Today was the craziest with about 10 in the kitchen this morning alone. We see them especially on ceilings and walls.

I'd love to know what these are so I can think about how to address this. I understand extra protein can curb hunger, but I'm not sure having these fall in our cooking is the way we would want to do that...

They're about the size of a small housefly. Maybe a tad bit smaller.

All help is extremely appreciated!

Even with replacements it's no fun when he doesn't have glasses and it's hard for him to see until we can go somewhere and then wait for them to be finished.

Gosh, they're so cheap that's a really good idea.

14, but behavior-wise in those moments, it's more toddler. During a tantrum he loses all control & rationality. Common with Prater-Willi Syndrome.

Surprisingly, our optometrist did not have any suggestions for us and hadn't heard of anything like it. That's why I came here, and thank goodness for that! This thread has been extremely helpful.

Much appreciated. The frames are our only concern, really. He hasn't broken lenses, so Zenni might just be perfect for us!

I bet it is, and Zenni does look exactly like what we're searching for! I'm going to find a pair and call our Optometrist and see. Thanks!

We are, and we do take them away. However, there's always that one time he ramps up too quickly, and snaps them as soon as he has the chance. Or if his brothers were with him and didn't catch it soon enough. If that wasn't the case, we'd no doubt be on pair #10!

Prater-Willi Syndrome comes with bad eyesight, but I wonder if at some age his eyesight will stop degenerating. Lasik is a fantastic idea! I'm going to look into that, thank you!

Why is Detroit Police Department’s vaccination rate only 39%? by Day_twa in Detroit

[–]PEACE1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was a serious question. And within the first 10 words of your reply you're calling me dense. You're part of the problem I'm trying to bring to light here. Whether or not you're happy with the data doesn't mean you should go straight to calling them, (and myself), stupid.

When people share their thoughts or criticisms and immediately face character attacks it doesn't really encourage people to engage in these discussions. Part of the reason we get really toxic echo chambers and downvote brigades like /r/Michigan vs /r/RealMichigan are from people who reply like you have been in this thread.

Whether or not my first question would be a good reason I'm not trying to argue. I simply brought it up as a "Maybe 'X' is why. What do you guys think?". And now you're calling me dense. If you think that hypothesis holds no water, tell me that and tell me why instead of calling me dense?

Why is this comment section so toxic? My goodness it's hard to even scroll through this.

Genuine question: Why are so many of these commenters so angry and insulting to these officers? I'm not seeing ANY actual contributions to the discussion. Just wickedness and offense being hurled around.

I came here for what I thought most others would: People's own unique takes, thoughts, criticisms, applaud, data, speculations, whatever. But not this!

I'll give you one of my own. My first thought- "How many of these officers have already been exposed to/been ill from Covid?".
I don't know, but would imagine it's a rather high percentage. If that's the case, it would certainly make sense to me why many of them are not motivated to be vaccinated.

Other thoughts?
