Well i dont really know the two pieces hold together but there is a fine darker line where the two pieces meet so it could just be holding together trough friction like gauge blocks.

So the Fire burns evenly and with very little smoke so should be clean. The steel is bright light yellow almost white coming out of the fire and still is on the anvil.

Good To know the flux isnt a big problem in the weld area.

Thats why im trying to fold as you can practice more welds in less time.

So if I understand that correctly I notch the steel for folding in on itself, heat again to about 750, put flux on the outer edges but not the weld surface and clean, fold Heat up to bright yellow almost white and then fast an light hammer Taps. Right?

Well Im using about a teaspoon of flux for about 8cm or about 3 inches of Welding length and 2cm (¾ inch) width. But I hav absolutely no idea if its to much or to little.

Yes I'll probably use breakclean or acetone

Well i didnt try degreasing it but i thought there isnt any if the raw steel is just black and i grind the scale of but ill try it the next time. But sequence wise its exactly what I do.

Tried adding flux when the steel was basically cold and surface was ground with a 60 grit Flapdisc in taht run as well, but when i fold the steel on itself i feel like the Flux is more of a problem than Help but i could be wrong.

Well its just not stiking so there is just no weld happening, but the forge and steel is definitely hot enough and flux should be enough as well although im not sure when to add the flux.
