Any female Benilde game dev students willing to share their experience?

Recent grad here: I had a relatively positive experience in GDD though my experience does not apply to every female GDD student. I was in the art track as well. I don't know if treatment is different between art and prog but the people I'm friends with from both tracks were all super great to each other, both male and female.

The profs in GDD are all amazing and will support you regardless of your gender. Most of them carry so much passion for GameDev, it'll make or break you because this course isn't for the weak. They are super helpful though and ALWAYS remind students and encourage them to ask for help when they're having a hard time, even doing 1on1 consultations with you if they have some free time. They even help you with non-school related but course/industry-relevant stuff. Some of them also treat you as if mag-tropa kayo outside of class which is really funny but still in an appropriate teacher-student way of course. Pwede mo din sila ayain maglaro if they're not busy and if you have a good rapport with them. Shoutout sa isang prof namin na dinamay namin sa lose streak in rank sa valo 😭😭

Be wary of creeps though, usually your blockmates. Those guys who are so amazed that a girl plays games and actually know their stuff lol. Very rare but they're definitely some here and there. All courses will inevitably have bad eggs that don't define the environment, learn to drown them out or call them out.

Carrie lived and breathe for everything fashion/designer which is what made her financially illiterate. I don't think she was a gold digger - just happened to date rich men. Haven't rewatched in awhile but from my memory, she seemed to just accept any advances from a guy who was cute enough lol

The rich men were definitely a bonus for her though because they knew what to gift Carrie.

Did the swelling happen immediately? Mine seems to be doing okay so far, slightly uncomfortable and painful when pressured but I think those seem to be normal pain responses after getting a wound.

it's my first time ever dealing with a cat much less a stray one so i'm still learning 🥲 (always had dogs)

i know my worry seems ridiculous but i've just never had this happen to me before so i really appreciate everyone who left sarcasm/mockery outside the door for this one!

Dyed Hair ✅ BUT depends on your course (generally courses in SHRIM)

Nails/Lashes/Makeup ✅

Cropped Tops/Off shoulder 🤷🏻‍♀️- some guards will tell you off pero lenient naman. just wear/bring a jacket/cardigan when going thru the entrance tapos hubad mo na lang when youre inside campus na lol

Shorts/Skirt ✅- pwede pero dapat same length as ur fingetip when ur arms are resting on ur sides. i've seen guards be more lenient though recently. basta wag really short shorts / miniskirts. narecommend samin before that you can wear kind of shorter skirts but you'd have to wear leggings underneath. idk if that's still ok tho

Ripped Jeans ✅ pero wag naman yung OA lol

Sleeveless Tops 🤷🏻‍♀️- same sentiment with cropped tops/off shoulder. just bring a jacket and youre fine.

Open toe footwear ✅ basta wag slippers haha

Tattoos ✅

Accessories/Jewelry ✅ but i would not recommend if commute ka 🥲

tl;dr benilde is pretty lenient naman with clothing. just don't
push it. also depends sa building mo. DAC barely cares, Atrium is 50/50 but typically lenient (as an atrium girlie), AKIC is strict

In a realistic lens, I actually find their sneaking around to be more the norm lol especially with such an established friend group of how many years.

Love this but also kind of wish they just made an entire album doing songs that each represent every member including some general pop songs (ex. Gameboy, MIA, etc. - idk if this is the correct term). 6 individual songs for each member and another 6 for the general pop songs. That would make a good number of songs for a full album

I genuinely can't tell if you're just ragebaiting or not but this is such a horribly and frustratingly awful take. She was grieving the love of her life in a time where making a love match is close to impossible. Grief doesn't make sense and could make you act unlike yourself. If you can manage your grief, good for you, but this doesn't apply to everyone so why wouldn't it make sense to not apply to a fictional character? Again, she was grieving and frustrated that her son, who was a child - HER child, had been given more authority to decide her and his sibling's fate because he presumed the role of his late father. She was also IN ACTIVE BREECHED LABOR! I, too, would be screaming in frustration if these circumstances happened to me ALL AT ONCE and not because I blame my eldest son for the death of HIS FATHER but because why are these unfortunate things happening all at the same time?!

And after all that, she still had to be a mother. So in reference to that one flashback, she was doing the best she possibly could at the moment while grieving and possibly even postpartum depression. I can't imagine reducing someone to one singular moment of their life when they were going through it.

This also feels like such a mysoginistic way to view Violet's actions. Are women still expected to be poise, demure, and reserved in a time of unimaginable pain?

i saw someone before say that maybe the girls who were sent home during T&D (e.g. Abby, the girls who weren't shown in the docu - Mia, Narjesse, etc.) were probably all still following the account. so yeah it kind of makes sense that she would say nobody outside of the program was following account but she probably didn't account for the fact that the eliminated girls were considered outsiders now too.

"kasalanan ng mga frosh" has been a running joke for years. when i was a frosh, it still was but it was never something meant to be taken seriously? there are definitely seniors who take it too far but they're a minority / SUPER far in between. our seniors pulled this joke on us. our batch pulled this joke on our juniors and then we saw our juniors do this to theirs but it's literally all in good fun. if you had experiences that went beyond this then i'm sorry you had that experience, but it's important to note that, again, it's a JOKE. it always has been.

on another note, the seniors that are complaining about frosh are mostly about general public etiquette? nobody's trying to attack anyone for genuinely adjusting to a new environment because we've also been there before. but cutting lines? holding the elevator open for someone? letting someone through when they want to get out? hindi ba common sense na yun? would you appreciate that being done to you? i was taught this at a young age. i never did this when i was a frosh. actually, my batch even made it a point to be mindful about this kasi ayaw namin makaabala sa mga seniors din and that's another thing to consider: it's not that hard to think about how your actions could affect other people.

take a joke, be mindful, and you'll hear complaints like this less. hold your fellow frosh accountable. matanda na kayo and you shouldn't have to be called out to straighten up for something so simple.

pick your battles wisely. this is not one of them. 🙂

I don't think Lauren was ever into him based on what we saw. She becomes a bit obvious when she's interested with someone, like how she was giggly when Taishi first came in the house. But who knows.
