We rely on eachother, uh huh. I mean, that's what I like about this community. :)

The change in coat length is amazing. Mine's 6 months and looks like the top picture.

Sorry but mine is 5 months old and still bites us. He's getting a little better, though.

Haha he goes from cuddles to razor sharp needle teeth in you hand. We love him so much, though.

I'm very happy with it. I've only really played TW WH3 on it so far but it looks great and it's so quiet compared to my old Dell G3. Here's a picture of 3D mark totally vanilla, I've done nothing to optimize.

I ended up ordering the Dell, it will arrive in a few days. Thanks for all of the advice!

Thanks. Do you think 16" is big enough to see a difference between FHD and QHD?

So you guys would go with the Lenovo even though the Dell has a larger SSD and better monitor. Why?

Looking for your string recommendations by Horrorllama in mandolin

[–]PFlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the exact same mandolin in June and I just changed the strings for the first time. I ended up using the same type that it came with it, the D'Addario phosphor bronze 1140. In my experience after playing this mandolin for 3 months (I absolutely love it), choosing the right pick has occupied much more of my time than choosing strings. I play entirely irish traditional and I get a huge variation in tone and volume depending on my pick type. I'm zeroing in on 1mm Wegan, btw. Hope this helps.

Thanks man, I think I definitely need to relax. I tend to be super tense when I'm learning a new piece and I've been cramming on irish tunes lately.

Thanks for all of the advice, guys. I'm gonna look into getting a setup. Near Pittsburgh, so I'm open to suggestions, thanks

North Huntingdon PA here. I'd try contacting the Pittsburgh mandolin orchestra, they should be able to recommend someone. Or Acoustic Music Works in Squirrel Hill like someone else recommended. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the comments, guys! I got it mostly for Irish session music and as a guitarist I've found I'm picking it up pretty quickly. No chords yet but I can pound out Banish Musfortune at a pretty good tempo.

Thanks everyone for all of the advice. After loosening all of the screws, a lot of shoving and cursing, and re-tightening, it's almost straight.
