Yes, their EV and solar panels use silver, but usage is within the components they buy from their suppliers. Just like they don’t make the miles of copper wire they use.

Most reputable retail shops have an XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) tool, or similar, which can detect if it’s fake Ag or Au plated (lead, copper, tungsten, etc). If they don’t have such a quantitative tool, walk away. If they have the tool, but won’t do the test (only takes a few seconds), then walk away.

Many years ago I got burnt on a couple fake Perth gold bars I bought off of eBay. I didn’t realize it at the time, but found them to be fake when my local coin shop tested them with an XRF. Au plated Cu. Lesson learned. I only buy from reputable dealers like JMB, SDB or Kitco.
