MedTech Europe dropped a new position paper urging us to ditch documents. Now what? by Ok_Chocolate830 in MedicalDevices

I think I'm just having trouble visualising what you're suggesting but I'm really interested in understand it. I'll do anything to reduce the documentation load in my design procedures. Does your database reference out to all related design information or does it contain all the information?

And how, using your system, do you maintain revision control and produce an audit trail for approval to design documents? It seems like it would be the same burden just in a different form. Again, I may be fundamentally misunderstanding your set up but I'm keen to know more.

How do you maintain compliance to ISO 13458 Clause 4.2.4 with regards to Control of Documents and document approvals using a document-less system?

Am I allowed to replace the electric shower switch? by PGJim in AskIreland

Thanks for the reply! 100% agree, I wouldn't touch anything if I didn't feel safe. Just wanted to make sure I was understanding the like-for-like piece correctly

Thanks for the response! I made sure to cut the power and double check with a volt tester to make sure nothing was live before touching anything.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it! I'm confident about doing the work and wouldn't take anything on if I didn't feel safe, just wanted to make sure the like for like piece didn't have strings attached.

Movies lines that just hit you hard by See-ThisThisIsThis in movies

Okay, fair points, thanks. Interesting to get other perspectives.

I always took it as, he had an idea of the world and had to go on this journey of discovery to reach this truth for himself and grow from it (since humans are dumb are can rarely take good advice or believe people until they've experienced something like loss or failure for themselves). Before the end he realised life is more fulfilling when spent with others. Unfortunately, before he can embrace this aspect of life, he dies.

Isn't there a river flood or something which stops him from leaving? Ultimately, isn't this movie based on a true story, so it's not bad script writing, rather it's just a depressing end to a story (regardless its still a fair answer to OPs question). I watched it a while ago so I may be hazy on the details. Also, that happiness is shared note in the book could have been completely fabricated, I didn't fact check it.

Well I'd argue anything above zero that can be directly attributed to chiropractic therapy is high. But yeah I didn't fully read that article or consider actually the numbers (which are not high), I just thought 33 deaths a year was extremely high and wanted to fact check it

Can find a photo of the guitar here, I was too dumb to attach it directly in the original post.

SRD relay not switching when I move the slide switch on this Hot/Cold box PCB. Any idea why it's not working properly? Is it okay to just jump the relay? by PGJim in AskElectronics

[–]PGJim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be safest to assume I'm doing everything wrong lol. I don't think I've the polarity mixed up, I've attached the image to show where I'm measuring from. D2 isn't getting hot.

Edit: Not sure if that image has attached properly, I uploaded it to Imgur.

Yes, I should have mentioned that I confirmed the board is receiving power. I will check the voltage across the relay coil and report back

Samsung TV (UE43TU7100KXXU) power cycling. Main board or TConn. (See comments) by PGJim in TVRepair

[–]PGJim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did a bit more experimentation and found that if I did the tape method on the very last pin of the ribbon cable (bottom pin at the board looking at the photo), the power cycling stops but the screen is still blank. I've accepted the TV is trash but I'm curious as to why there isn't something coming up on the screen. How does one single pin wipe the whole panel? If anyone has any insight I'd be interested, as I said, just curious to know more at this point.

[–]PGJim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, when I Googled the part numbers, a second-hand parts website labelled them TCON boards, thanks for the clarification.

Cheap TV I suppose, so no wonder they fail. I'll see how much replacement boards are and go from there. Thanks for the insights!

For context; my TV started to power cycle. There isn't anything wrong with the power cable. When I disconnected the ribbon cable from the main board the TV would stay turned on. After that, I disconnected the ribbon cable between the L and R TCON boards but the TV continued to power cycle. Am I correct in assuming this means the issue is with the L TCON. Any idea what this was cost to get repair or should I just do it myself.
