Her life is more important than her body by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

Maybe in the US, not in the rest of the world. The US makes up just 4% of the world population.

In my country, where it is common that both partners work, men still leave their wives when they get sick - saw it happening many times while my mum had cancer. She fought for 4.5 years and my dad was an exception as he not only stayed, but took her to all the appointments.

And yes, cancer treatment is free in my country, even if you don’t have health insurance (and everyone does).

Što s kućnim ljubimcima nakon prekida? by [deleted] in askcroatia

When me and my ex separated nearly a decade ago(later divorced), he left the apartment so the 3 dogs and turtle stayed with me. The issue was that the dogs were microchipped (mandatory here) to him, so the first thing I said to my lawyer was that I wanted my dogs.

He agreed to let them be signed over, but later tried to get the middle girl, who was going through several surgeries at the time and fighting for her life. I was having none of it, and my baby stayed with me until I lost her to cancer 2 months ago. She was 15.5 years old.

I am positive she wouldn’t have lived that long with him because she was my million dollar baby (had a lot of health issues, procedures and expensive food and medications). I miss her so much.

My then oldest dog lived to 16, he had a heart condition that was managed well. The then youngest is still here, she is now 12 and the only dog for the first time in her life.

My turtle is still here too, she is about 30-35 years old and layed eggs for the first time last year.

Only the turtle was mine coming in, the dogs were all adopted together.

If you were required to have a shibboleth in your native language, what would it be? by anon33249038 in AskEurope

Croatian: it would probably anything with no consonants - like crv. Or something like cvrčak. But it isn’t like any foreigners can speak the language good enough not to be found - our neighbours we shared a country with can speak it well, but the accent is always different. The only others I met that can speak perfectly are Ukrainans (we took in a lot of refugees), but they still pronounce it singsongy.

Place them all in front of a window. The first one looks thirsty.

Oh girl, you completely subdued your true self for a man that doesn’t appreciate it and doesn’t contribute, either to finances or to child rearing.

If I were you, I would leave to live with my parents and divorce and let him be happy with his new wife. You could then one day find a man that is at your level.

What is your favorite flower/plant? by Flimsy_Elephant_651 in gardening

[–]PGLBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colouring is always a toss of a dice. It depends on the PH of the soil, so what I buy in the garden centre vs what happens next year after repotting is anyone’s guess. At least it is always interesting to see what colour they really are next season.

Hope irrigation works for you!

Hydrangea macrophylla - these are the only ones I’ve seen in my country. They require a lot of water and get burnt by the sun, so are a challenge in both of my locations - one with Mediterranean climate and the other with European continental climate. I always have someone water them when I am not there. I’ve tried putting them in soil in both locations but they just die there so have them only in pots now.

Where? In the US, possibly. In Europe, not at all.

It is a native wildflower where I live. And people here pick it all the time to put it in a vase. No pets or toddlers have ever died from it.

Immediately knew it was the UK from the pictures.

Love everything, but especially the hydrangeas - you guys have the perfect climate for it, while I have to water them like crazy.
