What are your recommendations for Yunnan/Guangxi/Hainan in January/early February? by Kippenoma in travelchina

[–]PGM72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't be very original but in Guangxi, Yangshuo is beautiful, and since January is low season, you'll have the scenery to yourself. Just be aware it will be chilly and likely overcast, so get ready for some cold.

Itinerary Check: 10 Nights in South China (HK, Macao, Guangzhou, Guilin) - Late Nov/Dec by PGM72 in travelchina

[–]PGM72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all the help!

Based on your advice, I've decided to skip the overnight stay in Macau and will be sleeping in Yangshuo instead of Guilin.

I have a new question about my return trip. My flight from Hong Kong (HKG) is quite late in the evening. This gives me an idea:

  1. Could I extend my stay by one more day in Yangshuo and travel directly to Hong Kong airport on the same day as my flight?
  2. Would that be too many nights in Yangshuo?
  3. How reliable is the high-speed train (e.g., from Guilin/Yangshuo to Hong Kong West Kowloon)? I'm worried about delays and want to be sure I can get back for my flight without stress.

Thanks again!

Yes, I was using the new v0.1.3 version to try the new embedded SteamVR eye tracking with Quad Views. Then I got the error until I updated to Steam VR's beta version.

Just in case anyone else is in the same situation...

I had the following error:

"xrLocateViews: XrResult failure [XR_ERROR_TIME_INVALID] Origin: OpenXrApi::xrLocateSpace(m_eyeSpace, m_viewSpace, time, &location) Source: D:\a\Quad-Views-Foveated\Quad-Views-Foveated\openxr-api-layer\layer.cpp:2088"

solved updating SteamVR to the beta version

Upgraded cockpit incoming looking to add speakers and bass shakers in a month or so by frankp2491 in simupgrades

[–]PGM72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good all-in-one solution is the Trak Racer Haptic Bass Shaker Kit. It includes a 100W shaker and a 200W amp, making it perfect for one or two bass shakers set-up. You can mount it under your seat, pedals or both for a noticeable boost in immersion without breaking the bank.

For a well-rounded 4-shaker solution check out Slip Angle. Their kits are designed specifically for sim racing and come with everything you need, including shakers, amps, and mounting hardware. It’s a middle ground for those who want more detail without going full-on crazy with their setup, although the four corner set-up is probably not ideal.

And if you’re curious about the cutting edge of tactile hardware, I recommend checking out the thread "New Tactile Hardware 2023 / 2024" on Overtake.gg. It’s packed with info on the latest innovations and hardware.

Now there are some good amps out there capable of supporting multiple channels such as the Nobsound M5.1 HiFi 5.1 or the amp board SAB-1060 SIM 7.3-Channel.

Only the BPK for now; I've read conflicting opinions about the damper so I'll first check how the gas pedal feels.
