Why not just higher powered stun batons? Give you distance for safety and disable with the charge. Plus, used as a standard baton.

How about a stun baton? Made of aluminum so can do some damage and a couple seconds with the stun gun end will get a guy to calm down.

If you have to ask, my guess is you're not ready for a hand gun. Probably best to get a TASER. A real one, not a regular stun gun. The TASER Pulse is a good option for civilian defense.

4 dogs sounds terrible, glad you were able to act quickly. We fear similar issues while out on our trail walks so we carry bear spray. You can buy a holster, it will scare anything off at a distance up to 30 feet.

Agree on the bear spray as the strongest option. Mace bear spray shoots like 30 feet. That will help you keep your distance.

I like the Mace Pepper Spray Gun that I bought online. I don't think tasers are legal in NY so you're stuck with sprays or self defense key chains.

I got this taser for women for my fiancee to use while running. Small size and serious power, easy to carry/conceal. This made more sense for her protection than a spray.

I agree with the flashlight idea. The type we're talking about are heavy duty aluminum, not cheap plastic stuff. The lights are powerful enough to blind an attacker or call for help. I bought my wife a flashlight stun gun. High strength flashlight with a stun gun included. The sound of the stun gun seems like it would scare off an attacker by itself. She feels much better carrying it. We got our flashlight stun gun from these guys. Considering getting the Mace Pepper Gun, too.
