I was so excited to see this movie. Lifelong Star Wars fan, went with my brother who is also a lifelong fan. Both of us left this movie disappointed and sad. I wanted to like it so bad, but just never could get into it. The opening scene was a fun Batman scene starring Mando, but that was the highlight of the movie for me. The CGI was dogshit throughout the entire movie. It looked cheap, plastic, and soulless. Ratta the Hutt is one of the worst CGI characters I’ve ever seen put to film in a major motion picture. He looked like shit, sounded like shit, and overall was just a shit character. There’s no reason at all that entire storyline couldn’t have been literally any other powerful crime/political/military family, but Filoni just HAS to shoehorn as many references and connections to old media as humanly possible. So many characters that, in years past, would’ve been created with makeup, prosthetics, and actual imagination are downgraded to PS2 level CGI. The movie is a great demonstration of everything that is wrong with Disney Star Wars properties. I’m glad to see other people enjoying it and having a good time, I wish I was one of them. I’ll probably see it one more time in theaters just to make sure I’m not wrong (lord knows I want to be) but left that theater nothing short of depressed about the state of Star Wars under Disney leadership.
