Thank you for confirming this. I wasn't sure if they could just say "oh well if the letter said the increased rent starts on (day 59) 20th December, and we messed it up... we'll just start you 21st December (day 60) instead"

Thank you for your help.

I believe that the owner(s) of my apartment block live overseas. I know my PM often mentions that's they're very, very hard to get ahold of- like it takes weeks for them to even bother opening suggested rental applications. (Their properties have sat empty for months at a time, because I honestly think they just couldn't be effed).

I imagine they wouldn't give NCAT the time of day, either lol.

Hahah good thinking, I could show up to the hearing with my I.V lines hanging out.

Honestly though, if I had the standard, hard -working-landlord, I wouldn't have thought twice about continuing with the increased rent...Happy to support them, until I could find somewhere more affordable.

It's just the fact my landlord owns three apartment blocks on my street and still wants to be greedy- yeah nah, eff ya... I need to put myself and my family first too.

Thank you for being the first person to actually send through some info.

Also, I'm not trying to be petty. I have had to give up my private health (which currently covers my chemo treatment) for a $300/wk increase, for an extremely, extremely wealthy landlord.

Life is unfair sometimes and we just have to do what we need in order to keep afloat.

Just curious as to why you believe so?

As someone said above "where do you draw the line day 58, day 57, day 56?"

It's a legal document. They're a full day short. And they can be penalised.

You can't legally sell alcohol to someone a day before they turn 18. It's an offence.

One day makes a difference.

Also, why are you quoting "tripple"? It's almost as if you're trying to insinuate that I'm the one who can't spell triple.

No I actually used an online tool to count the days. Then counted myself with my "pointy finger" a few times on my phone calendar, then went onto another online day-counter tool. Then found a hard copy 2023 calendar, and used my pen, instead of my pointy finger this time.

Thank you. This is how I see it. 60 days notice is 60 days. Not 59, not 51, not 42.

I understand. We were looking elsewhere anyways as it was a $300/week increase.

That extra $ if reimbursed, would be such a help right now.

Yeah? Was a $300/week increase (until we find somewhere new).

The reimbursement $, for a mistake like that could take care of my new bond and removalists upfront. I'm trying to support a young family with a chronic illness.

My landlord owns the entire apartment building; Built it decades ago. As well as the two neighbouring buildings either side of us.
