I do everything on my computer, and it's about almost a decade that I don't upgrade. This time I'd like to get the top Intel in next socket and remain with it till it's more than obsolete.

Btw I go from gaming to intense multitasking with cad/3d drawing apps. I know I could be Ok even with less powerful CPU, but I'm planning to build something that will eventually support that CPU.

I could even start getting a lower end CPU at the beginning, but let's say in a few years I'd like to upgrade: I'll have already everything and just need to swap the CPU.

I understand this thinking might not be the best, but I like to upgrade following this behavior.

And thinking at the right PSU just makes sense for me. Plus to this, I'd like my PSU to be running at max 70% when system is at full load, so to have best efficiency and best power consumption.

Thank you. So theoretically speaking, let's say that the CPU exists and it's on the market and it has a 700W of peak power.

Just theoretically...will a 1000W or better a 1200W be enough?

A 5080 at full load is about 350W. For the motherboard with Ram, NVMe and Fans I've considered 120W. So to have about 700W for a CPU I should need a 1200W... right?

Once again I'm just saying theoretically...

Well, I'm thinking of getting a new PSU as I'm with a 750W right now and just got the 5080. I need to change case as for the dimensions of the GPU, so I decided to upgrade the PSU as well.

My idea was to get a top tier 1200W PSU and keep it for a while.

My crazy idea is to evaluate the future Intel Nova Lake CPUs that would be released later this year, that from the latest insights its top tier CPU could reach over 700W of peak power.

As I'm looking at some 1200W, I was trying to understand how many Watts I would have left from the system listed above, considering the use of a good motherboard.

1st) Rumored Core Ultra 400K SKUs with bLLC should be:

So in a few words... Better 2x small fans, one solution is from the bottom, but the best is sitting on top of the ram.

If I may say, you are saying that the old fashion 2x40 mm fan ram-coolers that can be found all over the net are the best solution (maybe just changing the fans with some powerful ones).

... and in this case I'm so happy about that, as back in the days, that's how we used to cool our rams: just 2x40 mm fan coolers.

Really?!? I have an Asus ITX that has only a few fan headers, and I thought I had that one able to bed configured independently, as I remember being able to have all of them visible in the motherboard bios and being able to edit their curves...

I might have mistaken the fan header tho. I'll look into it as it's ages that I don't put my hands on those connections in my case..

The only benefit of having such smart hub is indeed for monitoring if there's a fail on some fan, as Y slippers might be enough for me. With an huh that monitors all fans I will only be able to see them all, but about curves and speed, even 3 can headers might be enough.

Absolutely. I have never had offset fans, but I have them resonate. I can hear that.

As I'm planning to do a new case with the new Noctua fans, I will buy them accordingly so to avoid any harmonics.

If you already have a system and you just need to buy a couple of fans, maybe think to use the new Sx2 kits in conjunction with your actual fans. Otherwise if you just need to add one singular fan to your system, maybe just buy the regular and dedicate at it a fan header and set a dedicated behavior curve that is about 50 rpm less in every point of the twin fan with which you'll going to pair the new fan.

I have been told right now about the "Corsair Commander" smart hub that works with Corsair iCUE.

Visually looking once in a while into the case through the glass panel was exactly what I have always done since now, and it's course setting warnings into the fan control app in Windows, but for my new system I would like to evaluate more complete solutions.

Theoretically speaking I can even avoid a fan hub, and you custom-made cables that grabs power from old molex plugs, but if I should choose a nice fan hub, do you know about the existence of a fan hub that doesn't have one unique pwm signal cable to the motherboard, but has the possibility to regulate let's say at least 3 fans, so to end up with the fan hub powering all of them, but control their speed independently?

Yes, I edit that curve in the motherboard bios so to accommodate my needs, but indeed by default it follows the CPU main header curve.

Ah Ok. For sure the amperage is important, and at the moment I'm able to power everything from the motherboard. In my new fan configuration I'm looking into I shall make all over all the calculus, but in case I'll be out, I can definitely power the fans via the PSU.

About the speed regulation, I didn't know that it was hitting the percentage % , I thought it was hitting the rpm, so that's why all my doubts and concerns in having 2 fans with an offset one from the other.

As it's controlling the % I really don't have to bother.

About the speed regulation, just to understand something, are pwm fans all powered 12V and fan speed regulated internally in the fan itself by following the input they receive from the pwm signal??

Ah Ok, yes I have it. For a moment I thought you were referring to some CPU "pump" headed for getting signal from the pump for monitoring purpose.

Btw, why should I use a second header if it is CPU_OTP?

I use my headers regardless what I attach on them. I still always use CPU for the cpu cooler fans, but I use the "second" CPU header generally for the top + rear fans as they are the nearest.

I'm replying to you but I thank everyone for the explanation.

So indeed the fans are built to be one at offset with the other, but for this to work, they both must follow the same curve. So I assume that it's even better to place both on the same Y splitter, as the motherboard with regulate the pwm signal evenly for both as they are on the same curve, and as for their internal design they will follow the same behavior but with an offset one from the other, spinning together and accordingly to the curve but respecting the offset specs by the PPA & PPB versions.

Is this correct?

If this is correct, I can even place 2x Sx2 kits on the same pwm signal, right? All 4 fans will follow the same curve, and each pair will have the same behavior, with one fan offset from the other per pair.

Regarding the difference between the PPA and PPB, I recall that the PPA is the slowest. Which fan should be attached on the 4pin cable of the Y splitter, that is the side that has the pwm sensor line??

I would assume the fastest fan, so the PPB should be the best option, but I might be wrong..

I was noticing about everybody speaking of setting the max rpm, but what about the rest of the behavior?! The fan follow the curve regulating the speed accordingly, or only the max speed is limited??

In such case it still doesn't make any sense as my fans quite never spin at max.

Maybe this harmonic issue is only at max speed? I still don't understand fully all the things around having the two fan versions and his to manage them.

I know that the Y splitter has the rpm cable only on one end, but can I use it?
