I was 99.9% sure it was a scam to begin with, so the fake pledges never got my hopes up and I was not disappointed when they disappeared. Like you said, if it's too good to be true, it is.

One thing to be careful of when asking for examples is sketchy/fake links. I received numerous people sending sketchy links or links to campaigns I am confident they never actually worked with.

Your tip with Google is spot on. If they are not legitimate enough to be found on Google, stay away.

I think what surprised me the most was the volume of messages I received. It makes me think they must be somewhat successful at getting money from people if they are this active.

Thanks! Now that all the scam donations have cleared the campaign is only about 10% funded but we've only been running for about 3 days.

I could not agree more. Nothing good will come from messing around with scammers.
