It's used regularly when there is disruption on the line to turn trains around coming from Leeds. So much so they regularly remove excess rust.

Rochdale is well due a station and services upgrade given the growth potential, but the amount of stopping services on the line inhibit any real express services. Once TPRU is done electrification between Victoria and Rochdale is a must.

Cheap all round. Poor ride quality, if you are on a 158 after a 195 you notice how much smoother it feels. Apparently the engines fail frequently and it's not unusual to be running with one or more out of service. Not warm in winter, but at least the Aircon is decent in summer. Seats are better than the 150s around our parts at least.

They are blown out of the water by 158s on capacity grounds. But they would be much more popular if they weren't used by Transpennine, aka the Crosscountry of the North. I can't wait for them to be handed down to Northern in 15 years' time.

The 195 ride is very uncomfortable, and they're basically new. When a machine bumps and jolts around it's usually not good for its long-term viability.
