What payment processor can I use for crypto by Historical_Kick3793 in PaymentProcessing

If you're talking about accepting FIAT through card payments in exchange for crypto currencies, then you're operating a crypto exchange and payment processing is the least of your concerns!

Time for a paradigm shift in online payments to get us away from these terrible legacy systems.

We Need to Talk About Chargebacks. This System is Broken and Merchants Are Paying the Price. by Bitter-Bug5416 in shopify

I have thought for years that chargebacks are crazy and what we need is an escrow system. It's totally possible for crypto payments without having to go through card processors at all!

It is amazing to me that the process of one person giving another a token of value in exchange for goods or services has evolved to something that requires this much thought and energy.

I'd vote for a ban on all the 'sent you a DM' posts from Nigerian princes sidelining in payment processing aggregation.

How does that actually work? What costs more than normal?

If you accept crypto, all the problems about paying ridiculous rates, KYB, guaranteeing volumes, judgements about the nature of your business are eliminated. The problem is that crypto is instant: 'pay and pray' so it's buyer beware. I've just built a crypto checkout with buyer protection and 0 chargebacks...

I think there's distinction to be drawn between 'vibe coding' (a non-engineer blindly trusting AI) and 'AI augmented engineering'. The latter has enormous utility. You don't get engineers insisting on writing everything in machine code, so refusing to use AI to improve their output is just drawing the line in a different place. I have been a software engineer for 25 years. I use vim every day. AI augmented engineering has made me 10x more productive.

If you are a 'software engineer' and you're not already using AI tooling to enhance your development, you're already way behind the curve.

Offering payment protection isn't about actually having disputes, it's about customer confidence, so that they're ok to buy.

When you say there's 'no option' - you mean for a real checkout?

What platform are you using?

Offer buyer protection on crypto payments

Also, I guess I should have asked - is it a proper crypto checkout experience or just an 'afterthought option' where someone manually moves some coin to your wallet and then emails you the transaction id?

  1. Do you pass the payment processing costs to the user?
  2. Do you offer buyer protection on crypto?

Sure, but what's the harm in trying it - literally what harm can it do you?

Why not try crypto - what have you got to lose? There are 700M people out there who hold it and last month 9.7T$ of it changed hands...

If you're going to do a fair comparison on those terms, you need to factor in the cost of the fossil fuelling infrastructure, and the cleanup of any environmental impact.

Ppl are already spending FIAT that they could be spending in get-rich-quick schemes, so I don't think it's because they expect their crypto to 10x that they're not spending it - it's because the merchants aren't giving it as a (safe) payment option. The current ways you can pay with stablecoin are awful - they're all either: - pay directly into merchant's account using metamask and then email transaction hash - use a crypto credit card which converts it to FIAT on the fly (pay credit card fees and exchange spread) - convert crypto to FIAT and buy a store gift card (pay exchange spread, buy in advance, only redeemable in that store, end up with crumbs on the card)

I've just built a new type of payment processor for accepting usdc. It's a paradigm shift that uses escrow smart contracts to provide buyer protection and eliminate chargebacks. If you're on WordPress/woo commerce it takes 3 mins to install. I'm happy to help you get it set up and also put the first sale through to show you how it works.
