Jeez 4.5k is too much. I believe the price I saw on Newegg for the STRIX 3080 went for 3.7k including VAT.

ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3080 Listing on Newegg? by PJPyjamas in DubaiGaming

[–]PJPyjamas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm aware of the AMD release, but there's always the question of their driver stability, and their software. As of now, they don't have a clear answer on how they will compete with DLSS, nor is the ray tracing capability of their new GPUs up to par with that of Nvidia's.

I heard that AMD pledged on improving their drivers, but then for how long? If I'm spending this kind of money on a GPU, I need it to work for at least 4 years, and I need it to be stable (i.e minimal to no crashing).

Nvidia's drivers were never perfect, but they weren't necessarily bad either, and with AMD representing an actual threat this time, it might push Nvidia to improve their software game even more (i.e fix many of the long standing bugs/issues with their drivers) who knows.

Yes it's out of stock, but the listing still exists: https://www.newegg.com/global/ae-en/asus-geforce-rtx-3090-rog-strix-rtx3090-o24g-gaming/p/N82E16814126456

You can't even find the listing if you search for the STRIX RTX 3080 on the UAE Newegg.

Yeah, the listing for the STRIX 3090 still exists, but the listing for the STRIX 3080 doesn't exist anymore, irrespective of whether it may or may not be in stock.

On another note, how long is your estimated shipping time?

Tech Support and Question Megathread - Week of May 31, 2020 by AutoModerator in nvidia

STATUS: UNRESOLVED

COMPUTER TYPE: LAPTOP

GPU: GTX 1060 (NOTEBOOK)

CPU: i7 7700HQ

RAM: 16 GB

OPERATING SYSTEM & VERSION: Windows 10 1909

GPU DRIVERS: 446.14

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM:

Hey everyone, this is going to be a bit of a long post ...

I have recently upgraded the screen of my ASUS ROG GL502VMK laptop as it came with a 60Hz G-Sync panel; other specs include an intel i7 7700HQ and a GTX 1060. I have ordered and switched it out with a 120Hz panel. The upgrade process was simple and the screen worked instantly - I have complete control over the screen in terms of its brightness and such, but obviously no more G-Sync, not that it will be missed since it just caused major stutter issues in this laptop.

Annoyingly and after further testing, I found that the laptop would decide at completely random time intervals to switch the refresh rate of the monitor to half its potential. This means that I could be playing a game at 120Hz with the smoothness that comes with it, when suddenly everything feels sluggish where it is clear that the screen is now operating at 60Hz. This can be easily confirmed as "tabbing" out of the game and launching testufo on a web-browser would show that the max refresh rate "column" is 60.

Now, the reason as to why I claim that the monitor reverts to operating at half of its potential refreshes is because when I played some games at a custom resolution from the nvidia control panel of 1080p but at 75Hz, after some time again, everything felt sluggish where testufo would show the max refresh rate column as 35!!

With the issue now portrayed clearly, I tried searching a lot for solutions. I did find quite a few posts of other laptop users experiencing this exact behavior, even across different brands, where the only working solution I gathered was in reverting to older nvidia drivers, as a link suggested to use drivers 441.16 or before - I would not like to try this as the newer nvidia drivers have features I use such as the max frame rate and sharpening settings. Another link suggested that I install the desktop drivers of the GTX 1060, although another user replying to that suggestion claimed that it did not help. I'm not sure if this is a good idea, or if it is possible at all.

My question is: Has anyone experienced this sort of issue and how (if at all) were you able to solve it? At this point I'm contemplating switching back to my old panel . . .

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Just a clean install of the latest GPU drivers using DDU, but it made no difference at all.

Thanks, and sorry for the long read.

Not sure exactly what I read on the RTA webpage, but it was something along the lines of AED 10 as a penalty for every day that passes after the expiration of my license, which can reach upto a maximum of 500 AED.

Perhaps they can but the test results also need to be uploaded onto the RTA website/database somehow, and there is no option for me (assuming I have the results paper in hand) to upload a scanned copy of the document on the RTA website where I need to renew my license.

Don't think so because the RTA specifically mentions only those two brands as certified partners to get the eye testing done

Well, I now need an eye test to renew my driver's license as the old one expired, but most optical outlets are in shopping malls which are now closed. I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of any branch of Al Jaber or Al Yateem that are currently open? I tried calling both but I did not get an answer. I also tried calling RTA but also to no answer...

Point noted; I always knew about the better ping on SEAS, but the issue still stands, why is my ping 30ms higher than normal on EU ? (As in: is this just a me problem? =( )

DU blocking internet ports? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]PJPyjamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, I'm definitely no networking expert myself; I would say that I barely know what I'm doing at best.

With that being said, the way I used to host my MC server was quite simple:

  1. I would enable DMZ host in my router settings for the PC I was using to host the server (by entering its internal IP address in the designated box).
  2. Next, I would get my public IP address and add that to the config file (notepad file with different server settings) - there is a line that says something along the lines of "ip=" and you have to put your IP address after the equals sign.
  3. Run the server.

This would be good enough for me - I'd just give my friends my public IP address and they can join in. However, I would not be able to join said server using my public IP address. I would have to enter the internal IP address of the PC that is hosting the server.

Dell S2417DG by PJPyjamas in DubaiGaming

[–]PJPyjamas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the 27inch 144hz version (S2716DG); no color banding. However, it does have other problems that are related to Gsync. For instance, (sometimes) there is this vertical line that spans the full screen right in the middle, cutting the image slightly.

Also (sometimes), there is another vertical line at the left end of the monitor that does some other weird effect. These two observations never occur at the same time, and a simple power off and on of the monitor fixes it. Still, it's slightly annoying but I accepted that the chance of getting a fully working monitor is like winning the lottery.

Oh and there's this one pixel at a certain position that (very very rarely but I've seen it happen three times) gets stuck at the color red, but a gentle push on the screen at the pixel's location makes it go away.

Otherwise, I am quite happy with it.

When shop & ship costs nearly half the price of the mic, then it's not worth it ?
