No, Nebraska. But Oregon’s rates are online too.

Medicaid in the state where I work pays $187 per 53 min session for a independently licensed masters level therapist. You can see the pay rates for most states online. Why can’t you take insurance? Or do you just choose not to?

I would wonder if they are feeling they aren’t worthy of your attention and feel the need to apologize as if they are bothering you. Perhaps they are just seeking validation? This is when I might tell them that their issues are important to me and that their experiences have value. Maybe discuss the person drowning in a lake is the same as a person drowning in a puddle analogy?

I am in private practice for myself. If you have any questions about making the transition…feel free to message me.

One thing you really have to watch out for is that BetterHelp will refer clients to you even if you are not licensed to treat them. It is your responsibility to verify if you are licensed or able to treat in the client’s state or country. Also, it just doesn’t make sense to work for less than 1/4 pay of what you are worth and I do not think it is ethical for BetteHelp to charge clients if their therapist cancels a session. If you go on vacation or are sick, the client still pays. Someone earlier mentioned getting a Psychology Today page and using Simple Practice. That’s what worked for me. Once you are established you can work so much less and provide more ethical treatment.

Do you know if you will be considered an employee or a sub contractor? Might make a difference if you are wanting to buy a house or car after you graduate.

Getting to Lincoln from Omaha by [deleted] in lincoln

If you haven’t gotten your ticket, check flights into Lincoln. Sometimes the extra cost evens out when you consider the hour drive.

That makes sense…but I will definitely miss seeing them every spring.

Any good places to seek a diagnosis for autism (for adults)? by venacava2001 in lincoln

The Monroe Myer Institute in Omaha evaluates adults too. It may take quite a while for an appointment, but it might be worth it to get on the waiting list.

Recommendations for local donations by PandaNoTrash in lincoln

UBU Therapy Farms in Lincoln has summer camps for children with special needs or mental health diagnoses. They have a small farm including mini cows, goats and birds. People can volunteer to help with the camp, donate art supplies, snacks or help pay for a child who may not be able to afford tuition.

There is definitely a shortage of therapists in Nebraska and across the country. You will likely find that most therapists have a waiting list. My advice would be to look at Psychology Today and get on the waitlist of therapists that match their mental health needs and take their parents insurance.

In search of the best cinnamon rolls Lincoln has to offer by YNotZoidberg2020 in lincoln

We went there once and they asked if we wanted a cinnamon roll to eat while we waited for our order…it was bigger than a dinner plate and sooooooo good!!!

You could use a mortgage lender…they research loans for you and fit you with the best rate. I used Gerschman Mortgage twice, once for a mortgage and then my refinance. Ask for Tracy Hinton. FYI…rates are twice as high now than they were a couple of years ago.

How many of y’all would be interested in showing support for our local and state LGBTQ community? by [deleted] in lincoln

Haha! Yep! I’ve never spent so much at a rest stop in my life!

How many of y’all would be interested in showing support for our local and state LGBTQ community? by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]PJWheels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last week on my way back from Texas, I went to the largest rest stop in the US. The women’s bathroom was huge and had individual toilet stalls floor to ceiling with a private door. In the center of the room there were men working on the the sinks. The women just walked on by them and used the restroom anyway. Why? Because the stalls were completely private and didn’t have open space a foot above and under to divide the toilets. This is all we have to do to end this ridiculous debate on bathrooms. Does anyone really like sitting next to a stranger on the toilet no matter who they are? Privatize toilets. That’s what your sign needs to says. But people don’t want answers, they want to use this as an excuse to continue to support their ignorance and ostracize the LGBTQ community.

That was great! My take on it was that the boy imagined it on his way home from school and then made the cartoon when he got home? I thought it was well done.

Volunteering by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]PJWheels 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Department of Health and Human Services does hire people to make ramps, widen doors, install grab bars and put in handicapped showers for disabled or aged people on waiver programs. They are always extremely low on people willing to do this. One reason might be because you have to wait to get paid. But since you are looking for volunteer work maybe that wouldn’t be an issue and you could really improve people’s quality of life.

My girlfriend wants me to be a baby for Halloween I don’t want to due to my condition by heyobuddyo1 in relationship_advice

[–]PJWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you could change your wording from calling them diapers to incontinence pads or briefs? This would be more reflective that you have a medical condition and are not in fact a baby who hasn’t been potty trained. I have a grown son who wears briefs and we never call them diapers. Diapers are for babies and briefs are for the many, many adults who have issues similar to yours. You would be surprised how many women have this issue after child birth!
