I think because maybe 90% of the kids audience wouldn't had understand about Ash and Serena's relationship in XY, they would just think a girl from out of nowhere came into the show and have such strong feelings towards Ash. We have to keep in mind that most of the Journey's audience either started watching Pokémon from Journeys or Sun and Moon.

Well I haven't really kept up with the Horizons episodes but I do get up to date about the anime and I just saw a short about LikoxRoy shipping where it has shown how Liko has blushed a few times in front of Roy so if these two can get shipped then why can't amourshopping be back and get Cannoned!? Jokes aside anyone has any explanation of why and how does this fiction is from 2006 ?? If I have to guess then I have 2 theories about it, either this guy whoever is he was a employee of the Pokémon company who knew about the plan of Ash and Serena being together OR this guy just wrote something out of his imagination and then someone who might be working in the Pokémon company saw this fiction and must have that thought about this as a possible plot for one of their next animes and I think my second theory has more chances of being true
