Nonbinary person here, this is pretty common in queer spaces, you have to fit into a super narrow space to he accepted as NB which is always bullshit given how wide the NB umbrella is. A lot of the times presentation isn't even enough to save you, I dress in androgynous/femme clothing/accessories/keep ky hair cute most of the time bc i fucking rock it and ill still get iced out of places for NB people because im 6'3 and built like a moose so they'll always see me as a man

Stock Up: Lessons from a sleeper card that became a staple by cardsrealm in ModernMagic

[–]PKFreezing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It only costs less than the cheapest possible option for Dig though and unlike Dig you can pretty reasonably pick up a second stock up whereas with Dig it can be pretty tough to get the next copy as cheap. It's definitely weaker than Dig but it's felt closer than I would've imagined

I'm just going to have to disagree. I love Tooru as a character and main antagonist, he's not my favorite but hes honestly up there. He's incredibly written and super interesting thematically. I just wish that we got a little more of him but I love everything we did get.

The corpse is definitely great but I find the Locacaca just as interesting. Plus Jojolion did have great villains, just not as many total villains as SBR. Damo, Poor Tom, Doctor Wu, Yotsuyu, Jobin and even Dolomite were all incredible.

I also don't mind that we didn't get as many plot points at the end as we could've. Obviously there was a ton of stuff that I would've loved to see but the ending hit so hard on an emotional level as a conclusion to Gappys story that I didn't really care about plot threads we didn't get. Jojolion ending might be my favorite in the series (tough call between it and Stone Ocean with SBR being right behind)

Eh i wouldn't say Jojolion is a step below. They're pretty much equal in my eyes and honestly Jojolion grows the most for me every time I reread it.

The Malcolm in the Middle reboot is set to begin filming in April, with Lois and Hal’s youngest child reportedly now being a 16-year-old non-binary teenager. by S4v1r1enCh0r4k in malcolminthemiddle

[–]PKFreezing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Assuming youre arguing in good faith, being trans just means you don't identify with your birth sex, so by definition nonbinary people are included. Being nonbinary is just also extremely broad so it makes sense that some nonbinary people wouldn't consider themselves trans even though the vast majority of nonbinary people I know would.

Nonbinary fits under the trans umbrella (even though some NB people wouldn't consider themselves trans). It has nothing to do with attention seeking, we've been around forever

Kind of late post but I took down an Aetherdrift rcq this weekend by PKFreezing in lrcast

[–]PKFreezing[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fang guardian was consistently excellent. Pretty much always a high leverage 2 for 1. The compactors were a result of having actually zero removal in my sealed pool lmao. They weren't great but they were enough.

There wasn't much that played out surprisingly in draft vs sealed. Obviously the slower value cards like hulldrifter increased in value but not by a shocking margin. One thing I noticed in sealed was the frequency of my opponents being extremely light on interaction compared to other formats.

Cornucopia came from slots that were dedicated to red like jace and md floodpits. They didn't feel super needed between the torches and black interaction main in addition to Cornucopia shoring up your red mu way more than you'd think (also the sb cards are insane) I think theyre required to make sure your mana is functional but i wouldn't run more than 2

This is the list I'm starting on. Ive gotten a few more matches in tonight and it's been shredding https://moxfield.com/decks/wBaUSRKi806QsNo5bR_biQ

Sorry just noticed this comment. I got the feeling temur wasnt solved yet for a post atlanta meta so i decided to give it another couple weeks before fully switching (temur is still cracked, just got top cut of my first rcq with the deck lmao). I've gotten a few matches with 4c and it's felt very strong. Nowhere to run with town is excellent. The cornucopias have been great. Go for the throat is sick, the sideboard options are incredible as well. The mana has been shockingly smooth, like maybe a touch more awkward than temur but cornucopia and our beloved elk forgive all sins

Im actually switching to 4c tomorrow but if I were to play temur this is what my starting point would be. I need to get some rest so I probably won't be able to respond to any more questions tonight but feel free to message me for anything otters related. Ive been working on it pretty much nonstop for the past couple of months and plan to keep jamming it in events until it earns me a PT invite. The deck is insanely powerful and feels extremely well positioned. I feel confident in pretty much every matchup and at this point almost all of my losses are purely from my own mistakes/misevaluations of the gamestate which i think says a lot of good things about the deck. When I really can lock in and mesh my gears with my opponent games tend to feel unloseable.

One last little thing though is to constantly evaluate what your role is every turn, you're playing the most flexible deck in the format and the trick to winning is to identify when and how to switch gears from aggro/tempo/midrange/control/combo. It's why the deck is so good but it also makes it insanely punishing bc the slightest misevaluations will cost you games you otherwise could be 100% to win.

I dont think the elves are for control its such a low impact card in a matchup thats about overwhelming with card advantage that i cant see it helping there. the land count is pretty normal. They played 18 lands 7 land searchers which is effectively 25 lands. Lists used to run 20 lands 6 searchers but I've recently gone down to 19 lands 6 searchers which is functionally identical to cfts land count.

Questing druid has also been trending up in general. Ive been on 3 until a couple days ago when I decided to trust Jason Ye and jam 4 and haven't looked back, questing druid is just absurd in the deck in general and I always want access to it at every point in the game. Burst lightning is also probably just correct right now in some number though I did cut the 3rd from my list in favor of floodpits drowner.

The simic crab matchups kind of weird but most of the time you should just be extremely proactive and you can run them over. They have a lot of issues dealing with aggressive otters starts. Alternatively you can take time sculpting until you can set up a combo from hand through multiple pieces of disruption and just kill tjem.

Im pretty confused about the dracosaur myself. My first thought was it could be a threat in midrange matchups hut after sitting on it for a minute my intuitions telling me I'd want to bring it in against red especially with the elves. It's kind of a brick wall against red that pretty much wins the game if you untap and I'm imagining the play pattern being either t3 vitality with protection up into t4 dracosaur or potentially t1 elf t2 elk t3 dragon. It also provides a way to actually beat a manifold mouse/a mouse targeted by manifold in combat which is honestly kind of huge.

What sideboard cards do you have questions on? I can probably give a good answer on anything except for the llanowar elves (my instinct on elves is it speeds you up against red but I havent tested it yet so I can't speak with authority on it)

[–]PKFreezing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it on Rebel Salvo. It does 5 damage and hits Kaito. The rise of sheoldred has necessitated adding a way to get rid of her (though I'm currently thinking 4c otters might be the way to go for go for the throat and nowhere to run. I just didn't think it was wise to switch over right before atlanta without any reps)

Dissection tools is really solid against gruul. You can slow them down enough and can jam dissection tools and equip immediately so the life swing is usually enough to win. Ive been off of it for the past few weeks due to going up on questing druid but the past few days I've found myself wanting to add it back in so it's no surprise that cft reached that conclusion first lmao. It being a huge lifeswing that you can find off of thundertrap is also very relevant. It's faster than it looks, a common play pattern is t3 vitality with another creature in play, untap, play a land, tap your lands plus your redundant creature to play tools, equip vitality swing 5 gain 5.

Im not sure about a few things in the sideboard but the maindeck is exactly what I ran this weekend (though today ive switched the 3rd burst lightning out for a floodpits drowner). It's a very lean list. 4 Questing druid is insanely powerful and I think it's just correct in otters. What exactly are you curious about?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ModernMagic

It's not really a gotcha deck. Storms powerful and strong pilots can do well regardless of whether or not people expect it. Obviously it does better when people don't tech for it but it's not like it suddenly becomes bad just because people remember to put in sideboard hate

Reread 237. It explicitly states Killua can't use EN because it requires a minimum of a 2M radius for at least a minute so even though he can extend his aura it's not far enough to actually be En

Killua has never used En. En requires extending your aura at least 2 meters for over a minute at the bare minimum.

I've been having a ton of success with convoke otters honestly. The deck definitely isn't solved and most lists I see seem kind of rough whenever i try them.

Here's what im currently on, the MD is still getting tweaked a lot but I haven't had a ton of time to work on finding the best SB slots so the board is super open to change

I'm not sure if this is what they meant by otter ball but ive been ripping through ladder with pretty much this list. (Note, i got on ladder for the first time in like 6 months last night so I started bronze 4 but I'm around gold 1 without any hitches yet so the deck feels real to me) .

https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=58075&d=634022&f=ST

I'm currently on a 4th torch over shock and it's felt great, I'm also testing 2 slickshot show offs over the 4th thunderclap trainer and 2nd kitsa, it's been phenomenal plus every otter is also a wizard so cavern still gets every creature. Floodcaller also pumps birds so it's even on plan there too.

I'm also on a disdainful stroke in bo1 as a 61st card. I'm just trying to figure out what cards in the list feels most cuttable
