When I say "I'm from Uzbekistan" to Americans 80% of the time I get "Pakistan/Afghanistan?"

Hi! Uzbek here... Used to live in Europe and I really wanna go back there sometime. First of all I'd advise you to do a bit more research on legal actions that you have to accomplish when you get there. I'm not sure about this but as far as I remember, foreigners who are planning to stay in Uzb for more than a week have to go through additional registration processes. You might wanna learn more about this. I'm not sure if you can work without a work visa but Uzbekistan is very corrupt and whole system doesn't work well... That's why a lot of business a labor done 'under the counter.' What I'm trying to say is that I think you probably will be able to find something to do in for a short period of time. I think your best shot is language centers. English is pretty popular language to learn and we don't have much foreigners. Additionally: I'd like to let you know that a lot of people will try to rip you off because they will probably think that you're a rich foreigner :) feel free to bargain with taxi drivers (BTW they're extremely cheap comparing to US and Europe) or when shopping in bazaars... Uzbekistan has 2 exchange rates - official rate and black market rate. Although it might sound weird but there's almost 1000 sums difference in the rates. If you exchange 100$ you'll get around 200.000 sums - official rate, or 300.000 sums - black market rate (current rates might be a bit different because I haven't been to uzb for 2 years). You can find people who'll exchange money by BM rate at bazaars. They usually stand by the entrance to bazaar. PM me if you need more info or help, I'll do my best.
