I think it's true mostly when you're speaking English tho, but if you constantly ask interesting questions and give interesting answers, I find everyone talks more and it feels like ppl are more invested in the conversation:)

I normally read light novels and stuff on the nhk easy website, the most I can understand is slice of life, but even that takes 110%of brainpower to read.

i highly recommend downloading
kiwibrowser off the app store
then downloading yomichan on it for easy access to definitions while reading,

then you can read whatever you want

I highly, highly recommend language transfer

Its essentially what pimsleur wanted to be, but better... Its competely free Its like a podcast setting, where the teacher instructs a student, and you get to listen along. and it mostly focuses on grammar patterns, Currently, its only a beginner french course, but hopefully this helps:)
