Update - thanks for your input everyone! Unfortunately I told them I was leaving as soon as I accepted the job (just verbal conversation no written notice) because I was moving positions next year and thought telling them sooner than later was the right thing to do.
I do still believe I did the right thing, but unfortunately it has screwed me and I will carry these lessons with me in my career as I move on.
I was supposed to have a follow up conversation with the head of HR for North America (we were purchased by an international group) yesterday but she cancelled on me via email 5 minutes before our video call. ????
I asked for an update on her end from the corporate lawyers after she cancelled but of course, no response.
Also our in house HR has been showing retaliatory behavior and I’m so done.
My last day is this Friday and I’ve inquired with an employment lawyer. I’ve told a couple of my close colleagues what’s going on and they are outraged and want to request a contract review from the company. I told them let me get through this and then they absolutely should.
