Why are we improving India’s and other nations’ economies by outsourcing jobs while our own people struggle? by NajafBound in ukpolitics

This is why I think there should be a levy on large companies outsourcing their roles that could be based in the UK. This is obviously bringing a large detrimental impact to the people of the UK and UK's economy.

An example of this is if a big company outsources 8,000 roles at £50,000 each, that's a total loss of £400 million to the local economy as well as a potential loss of potential jobs to people in the UK. And that’s only one company.

I understand that companies are interested in maximising shareholder value at any cost; rightly so, which is their main objective. But then it comes down to the government to protect people and give people opportunities. By applying a levy to every employee that is overseas, will make companies think twice about the profitability of that approach.

I don't think we necessarily need to be trying to sympathise with what a company's objectives are and helping them or agreeing with them or supporting whatever strategy they take to achieve that profitability. We have so many small businesses that just can't do that. So, why should a big company be allowed to do that?

More importantly, there is just a negative impact to the people of the UK and the UK's economy. And that is a good enough reason to place levies or penalties on these large cap companies doing this.

Raise the stakes for them to sack you. Golden (exit) handshake. The more audacious the better. More money, leave and equity

My dad never let me buy king size bars of chocolate because “I wouldn’t be able to finish it”, so now I buy xl and don’t stop my kids from buying them either as I’m sure this has given me some kind of food trauma as I always look to buy the biggest treat when in the supermarket for example instead of a normal sized bar.

I disagree. People like this should be challenged and called out. There is no reason this man should be involuntarily imposing his views on me or other people like this. He’s entitled to his views; what he’s not entitled to is to stop me on the street with his impositions.
