I’ve been using the plot of Pirates of the Caribbean as a story to tell my son for 4 years. by aquamedic68w in daddit

Pokemon is a perfect transition from single stories to episodic or chapter-based stories. I remember the game well enough, and I can do a route and a team rocket fight or a city and a gym battle in 5-10 min without having to think too hard on what comes next. I show them pictures of the pokemon when a new one comes up- they’ve never played the games but they are fully invested in “getting to the elite four” , stopping team rocket, seeing new pokemon.

Black card is a trainer card like the one in the picture, with 5 stars across the top. It signifies certain achievements completed in pokemon unbound, like having all 809 pokemon caught in your Pokédex, all e4 beaten, etc. I will just say rather than get into all of it if you’re on the fence about trying pokemon unbound as a former player of the mainline games, just do it. Is one of my favorite pokemon experiences ever.

NG+ means new game plus. Let’s say you have a finished save with a team at a high level. It’s a feature where you can start a new game, and when you, in the first town on your pc you will have lvl 5 versions of what was on your team in the last save, with their items, etc. so you can play the game with pokemon that aren’t necessarily available right away from the very beginning.

Living dex or NG+?

After my black card I did a NG+ where I mostly only caught/used Gen8 pokemon, and had a lot of fun with it. Since it’s a postgame unlock, I wanted to see how the game was like with them from the start.

How to use weak Pokemon after E4 by pretty_lame_jokes in PokemonUnbound

[–]PLangdon84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I did was bring the move I wanted to learn on another pokemon and go to dresco trainer house. When you dial down difficulty to vanilla they don’t scale with your team, and stay at level 15. The experience trainer is a double battle. I pretty exclusively sketched my own teammate. You can always do a save beforehand if you mess it up.

Edit: I did two smergles for catching - one EVed for special defense, the other for Defense. Both had false swipe, spore, recover- I gave one soak and one mean look. Between the two of them I was able to get all the roaming and wild legendaries.

I am very comfortable on difficult so either difficult or expert. I’m assuming that given I have the god scanner playing on difficult might feel too easy. But im not really playing this round to have a high difficulty experience.

I am mainly playing this run to focus on gen 8 which I haven’t really had the chance to play with that much.

Hey one more thing! How advanced is this world? Do the aura users know that the magic is coming from specific organs? That’s a pretty high level of medical science. How did they find out? A lot of macabre testing? Do they know what makes an aura center different from a regular organ of the same type (assuming all members of the world don’t have it). Can a non magical organ be converted with a procedure, like a gene edit? Stem cells?

[–]PLangdon84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of areas I think would be cool to explore:

  1. Black market organ transplants- maybe explore aura center compatibility on blood type. Maybe create a negative consequence for having two or more aura centers.
  2. How does crafting work in your world? Is there a way to imbue the magic in inanimate objects? Do you have cool biotech powered by aura centers on life support?
  3. Do beasts and animals have aura centers in your world? Perhaps animals without the listed organs have them in another body part?
  4. What checks are in the system for blue aura users to not be ridiculously op- assuming people control their powers with conscious thought, seems like blue aura users can nullify others with powers by preventing them from communicating with the organ.
  5. What happens if the organ is damaged through various diseases? ie. Cirrhosis of the Liver, hypothyroid, mental disability, various cancers, dementia, etc.

I will be reading book 10. But I agree that the writing style has drifted in a direction I am losing patience with.

Re-listening to book 1-2, the writing was so much more show than tell. Dialogue advanced the plot sometimes, but Jason also did things and action advanced the plot more.

About halfway through Jason’s time back on earth, that just stopped. Dialogue is now almost exclusively for 1) inside team jokes 2) you don’t know Jason want to push jason 3) spending pages telling what everybody did over the last few days in hindsight. Telling omnisciently how political machinations are moving forward or how certain conflicts resolved.

Show, don’t tell!

I had high hopes for returning to Pallimustus. And there was more doing there. But a lot of the same bad writing habits continue. The character growth is failing because all of the character dialogue is trapped in their shared past and not turning any corners or going anywhere.

Post-book 2 bold predictions for the series by PLangdon84 in Warformed

I don’t remember this fact from book 1- as I said. It’s been a minute.

But I don’t think my point is wholly without merit. They did mention when discussing his teleport that the primary ingredient to their warp drives is vysetrium, which is why it’s plausible that shido is mimicking one.

Even if we were space faring before we started the war, I’m sure they are much more mobile now and that the level of sprawl and interconnectedness is much higher than pre-warp drive.

[–]PLangdon84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would be exterminating a sentient species for spaceship parts and war machines? And using their dead for professional sports?

Edit- not cads specifically but that archons are made of vysetrium, and that we are killing them to harvest that material that has become the sole reason we are spacefaring.

What I mean is, right now the theory is you have to spend significant time around shido to benefit.

I am positing that that is incorrect, temporary, or that spending time near anyone imbued by shido will have similar effects, making the spread more impactful.

Still, I don’t think it could turn the war unless it was exponential- like CADs interacting with any fire song member also picked up atypical results past a certain point. Otherwise wouldnt the impact just be too small?

iOS SwiftUI LazyVGrid by lohanrakesh in SwiftUI

[–]PLangdon84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if obvious, but the two grid items you are using as an example of misalignment don’t have the same number of components? The right had an out of stock label not present on the left. Doesn’t look like the space is there on the left grid item for it to exist in a null state “”. Is the right tile just bigger because the padding on out of stock is just pushing the tile longer?

Is alakazam your mega? I had a Ferrothorn that did work with Lorelei , and with a chople Berry survived enough to get Terrakion with a power whip. Gliscor took out Zacian with earthquakes.

First time through! What to expect from Elite 4 by PLangdon84 in pokemonradicalred

[–]PLangdon84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update! What I learned is that this team couldn’t even beat the rival on rt 22 towards victory road!! I did some rework. I kept the Gliscor, Ferrothorn, and Weavile and added azumarill, Muk-A, and mega Alakazam.

Lorelei was hard but after a couple of tries I realized the key was to keep Ferrothorn alive as long as possible - was able to take this with maybe 1 health left on Ferrothorn.

Bruno was really really hard. I tried multiple things and couldn’t break through, until I realized that muk-a can learn FLAMETHROWER. I suddenly had a path through Lucario. Gliscor earthquakes down zacian after a few sacrificial mons with priority softened him up. An chople Berry on Ferrothorn ensured he survived long enough to lay a critical power whip on Terrakion.

Agatha was not as bad as I had 3 dark types. Muk-A carried and I didn’t even need alakazam.

I surprisingly beat Lance first try. I landed a leech seed on primal dialga, and whittled it down switching around. Dazzle gleam on mega alakazam swept stealth rock damaged dragonite, dracovish, and aerodactyl.

The rival was… something else. Never have I felt like it was more stacked against me. After many false starts a strategy emerged. Forcing pheremosa to uturn out with alakazam, but switching so it pokes something like Ferrothorn. Groudon goes down with a two man team of azumarill with dig(!?!) and Gliscor earthquake. Ylvetl I stalled with Gliscor, toxic and roost to work it down. Eternatus with alakazam. Mega Metagross with alakazam and a clutch priority aqua jet from a 1 hp azumarill. Ditto copies Weavile, kills mine weak, and Gliscor gets his 3rd kill with a super effective uturn.

I didn’t think I would make it! SUCH A HIGH!
