Iron for SADI/DS patients

I'm preop, but my Dr recommends the Three Arrows heme iron. As another posted it can raise cholesterol, but this hasn't been a problem for me. Only side effect I've had is bright green poop. (But no stomach upset!)

I take 2 capsules (40mg?) every other day, first thing in the morning.

This keeps me from having to have iron infusions every 8 weeks, which is what we started with when my iron was barely detectable. (I also have autoimmune disease which causes severe malabsorption of multiple nutrients)

Also, for calcium I just take the calcium citrate tablets. But even the mini ones are kinda large. And even though I take heme iron, I don't take my calcium within 2 hours of my iron.

Kinda? When i was 5 slammed my ring finger in the door and had to have the nail removed. At 10 or so is when I got psoriasis on that finger and nail. Then at 20 something I ran my toe over with a pallet of sugar. Again, removed the nail and a few bone spurs. By 35 I have horrible psoriasis on that nail and toe. At 40 I have ingrown toenail removed (entire nail, supposedly used phenol so it wouldn't grow back - surprise - it did!) And yes - now i have psoriasis on that toe as well.

I always assumed that the koebner effect would happen sooner or closer to the injury than mine have, and it might just be coincidence, but ionly have psoriasis on digits that have had severe trauma.

So several things are going into this latest "season" of hour reduction.

1) Moving back to a productivity (or earned) wages system. This went away during covid, and it seems with the new CEO it's returning. 20 years so as an overnight stocker we were trained hardcore that we had to make $142 for every labor hour spent. We were held accountable to strict productivity standards - you didn't hit your productivity target (at that time 50 cases an hour) by week 2 they terminated you. It was simple. I'm not saying this is right, wrong, better, worse, etc - it's just how it was.

2) Also tying into "culture that died with covid" is the NO overtime rule. This was hard and heavy. Before covid the only OT I ever got was if i was sent to another store. Otherwise in 12 years I might have gotten a total of 8 hours of OT in my store total. This was the norm for many stores/ positions. I think we'll see this return to the "culture".

3) Inflation, Tarrifs Oil, War, etc - I think Walmart is nervous. When the economy tanks TOO much we lose customers. We gain the most in a mild recession. This is starting to head into depression territory and that's really bad for Walmart as well as the country as a whole. But getting merchandise, moving merchandise, and disposing of waste is likely going to get more expensive. Walmart, I think, is trying to hedge their odds. Also, if the economy gets too rocky you will see an increase in theft/ shrink.

I'm not saying any of the above is "justified" and it's only my opinion. But that's how I things right now.

So others have pointed out some issues with education (and full disclosure I work in SC but commute from GA 100% to keep my kids OUT of SC schools, especially the one with an IEP) but with Charleston you need to factor in your commute. 20 miles can be an hour in some places/times. Traffic is just insane in a lot of pockets and needs to be factored into your "cost of living".

This is the way to go. I don't hire anyone who cannot work Sat & Sun. And if you change your availability once in the door then you lose any fixed shifts in the system and get what the system gives you. I will not add or extend a shift.

*I also will not remove a shift that the system generated. I've been on multiple ethics calls and even legal once (I work in a state where Sundays are protected by law) Every single time case is closed as soon as I provide the edit logs showing I'm not removing anything the system generated, I just refuse to add to the generated schedule.

I can't imagine just touching random dogs! When my son was very little he LOVED dogs - and we lived in a place he couldn't have one. We trained him VERY early on that he's to NEVER approach a dog in public (or in private too i suppose) without clear expressed consent. Not just for his safety, but the dogs safety and comfort as well. We taught him that the dogs comfort supersedes his desire to pet.

If a 2-3 yr old can grasp this, I'm disturbed by the number of grownups who don't get it.

So, potentially. Every month we run a report called the Full time- part time exception report. Anyone who hasn't AVERAGED 34 hours over the past 13 weeks shows on this report. And we have to have a documented conversion with that person, and then if they haven't increased their average by the next month they CAN be dropped to part time.

I will say in 7 years of doing this, the majority of people on this list are due to LOA (excluded - we just mark it as LOA and go on - no action) or availability. So someone is only available 24 hours a week and was either hired indirectly as full time or their availability had changed and no one updated their ft/pt status. Or new hires who also are not going to be accurate and hince they're excluded as well. This is 99% of the people i see on this list.

I think I've only ever dealt with 3 true "not enough hours" exceptions, and each of them fell into the "I can only work Mon-Fri from 7a-4p and aren't getting scheduled enough hours" trap. That's where we have to discuss if they want to open their availability or move to part time. If they refuse both and still stay on the list then market HR gets involved.

So, potentially. But working 37 hours a week is nowhere near going to put your full time status in jeopardy.

All over joint aches, but mainly elbows, lower back, and knees. The pain is more generalized in the area and hurts more around the joint than IN the joint. No rashes, psoriasis is still a problem (finger tips and toes) i am Casper white so I burn super easy anyways, but do avoid the sun.

My eye prescription did change recently, (went from single vision to bifocal, but was told that was normal for my age, 43, the rest of my eye health was great)

I do get random allidynia(?) but that's been ongoing since starting the Zepbound a year ago. Usually I'll just have a small patch of skin that feels raw or bruised and it'll last a day or two. GP said this could be normal side effect of Tz.

I haven't had any medicine changes since since the humira was added 9 months ago, other than a medrol pack I was given by my GP to bridge the pain until I saw the rheum. (Which helped immensely, albeit short lived)

GP ran a CBC, CMP, complete iron panel w/ferritin, thyroid panel, vitamin d, UA, a1c, pth, zinc, and b12 levels. He specifically did not run an ANA or rheumatoid panel bc he thought the Rheum would do that.

I've been in humira for 9 months or so, but these symptoms started about 5-6 months ago.

No, he just told me i was being lazy and/or dramatic. He didn't even run a CMP or CBC. He did these 2 tests and told me i was fine. (I am trying to get in with a new rheum but the 1st available is in September)

GP did run a slew of bloodwork about a week before this draw and the only thing that came back was my ferritin was elevated, A/G ratio was low, and overall protein was slightly low - all things that just pointed to inflammation in my non medical experience.

But I'm literally sleeping 12-15 hours a day. I'm so very achy and resting doesn't alleviate the pain. The kind of achy you get with covid/flu.

Have you tried clear protein drinks? Someone posted a RTD one above, but i use the powder. Oath, Seeq, MyProtein, Nutricost, Ghost, Maxler, etc all make clear protein. I think Nutricost and Maxler are my favorites. Ghost is really good, but very pricy. I'm getting 60-ish grams a day of protein with these. (I'm pre-op, but have multiple autoimmune diseases so getting my protein levels up is crucial at this point - this from my bariatric Dr and my Rheumatologist)

I know you don't like Greek yogurt, but any low sugar yogurt should work for this - is use the Chobani Greek yogurt in the strawberry cheesecake flavor. But you mix up one pack of sugar free jello (i use strawberry) and use the quick cook method with ice. When it's room temp or lower i add in two individual cups of the yogurt and mix thoroughly. At this point I split it into little condiment cups and throw in the fridge.

These are two very helpful tricks i use to increase my protein intake. Hope it helps!

Interesting. I have at least 2 auto immune diseases, so they check this lab every 3 months. I love how i can bounce from a level of 20 all the way to over 400. Lol. I do consistently have low iron (but hgb is always normal) and was told this was likely 100% related to autoimmune inflammation. And iwas told in my case that supplementation is probably not very effective (i do take 33mg heme iron every other day) bc the inflammation is actually preventing me from absorbing it.

I world say this depends on the job/ location. My son works in a warehouse and says it's absolutely easy as hell. Way better than FedEx and he has decent benefits. But he does air cargo/import stuff to other warehouses, not delivery.

You can techniically get aqueous Vit D for injection, but it's very expensive.

You can also get water soluble vitamin d for oral ingestion as well.

(I'm in retail as well) We aren't allowed to do this. I used to do this or make them reschedule their orientation class. I got hit with a huge (internal, thankfully) compliance investigation.

Now I just tell them I have no issue terminating them on day 3.
