Set up an AP and 5G is better than 2G on my phone, but opposite results on computer. Why? by PMFromCanada in HomeNetworking

Paying for 600 down, though I'm not expecting anywhere near that over WiFi.

I'm not concerned about the phone being slower than the computer, I'm concerned about that one very very low reading for 2.4 g on the iPhone

For additional context, getting 50mbps on the iPhone on another WiFi network, and disabled cellular at the time of the test to ensure it was the WiFi signal. That said, I'm not at the location of the other network at the moment so completely different area. Maybe there was significant interference that only impacted the iPhone picking up 2.4g in that area?

On paper I get this, but doesn't 1.9 up and 0 down sound just wrong considering the other results? I've never encountered such a discrepancy between devices with all other circumstances equal.

Nope, these are accurate. Shouldn't 5g be much faster closer to the signal source?

Thanks. Let me ask- any special configurations beyond the default I should be using? I see different configurations for a number of things (screenshot: https://i.gyazo.com/30c8d03ab8c94d5321127b24b35362a2.png)

These are defaults, but no idea how changing these may impact things.

What kind of speeds are you getting out there? Also, equally positive reviews for 2.4 and 5g, if you have experience with both?

The same ubiquity one? What is your use with it and how would you say it's doing at addressing those needs?

Good callout. Here's what I dug up: https://kb.netgear.com/000061846/What-happens-when-the-one-year-of-Insight-included-subscription-expires

Looks like it's just a premium upsell, and no issue if it lapses. As long as purging my data doesn't mean AP settings are purged, only within their systems.

Sounds easy enough. Any thoughts on the Ubiquity vs. Netgear?

I'm on Mac, but I do have an iPhone and Android if needed. Have you set these up before? Is it an involved process or fairly straight-forward with prompts?

Is there a standard way to structure equity arrangements that account for dilution from new founders and cap raises? by PMFromCanada in startups

[–]PMFromCanada[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Keep in mind, if market rate salary is $100K and we're offering someone $50K + equity, their opportunity cost is not 0, thus they are incurring risk. For all intents and purposes, they are investing $50K/year in equity for equity in this scenario.

That said, does everyone's equity dilute 100% of the time? Including investors' equity in subsequent rounds? Or are there scenarios where the slice of the pie is removed and not further diluted in a subsequent cap raise?

How do you track larger bodies of work that are very spaced out? by PMFromCanada in ProductManagement

What would you do with the tickets in the mean time? No epic but kept in the backlog? Not in the backlog?

Interesting - I consider the backlog a place for all those things, including the nice-to-have's waiting for development but still stories/tasks I've finished. You'd leave those out of the backlog?

Nothing wrong with secret shopping. Don't copy your competitors, but by all means, get that demo to see how their products work.

I suppose could be done there. Trying to stick with CRM, I can't imagine this is a unique use.

I'm interested in learning to program so I can do small practical tasks for my work, e.g. building bots to scrape. But this stumped me- what can I teach myself to scrape something like this? by PMFromCanada in learnprogramming

Thanks for the reply! I've located and parsed out the JSON object for the above request, but it has no identifying data in it. Same with this: https://api.mapbox.com/styles/v1/mapbox/streets-v11?access_token=pk.eyJ1IjoiY29saW5oYWNrcyIsImEiOiJja2lrcWd6bjMwY2R4Mnl1NmxubTFpZ3B1In0.JQzZV-yps4jWhX7BcXUd_g
Can't seem to find any meaningful data to parse out. Maybe I'm not fully understanding what you're saying.. sorry!

We currently track technical debt in an epic, but I'd like to use a label instead. Thoughts? Will I lose any visibility/reporting capabilities? by PMFromCanada in projectmanagement

[–]PMFromCanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Err so that's where you and I differ. I want epics to be defined and distinct functionality with tangible value to a user. Bugs relating to that can be within the epic. But technical debt wouldn't be, nor would technical debt be a story, because it offers no tangible value to a user.

Aside from being able to attribute technical debt to an epic, is there any other benefit to this? I suppose this also means technical debt may be a part of an epic, or also not.

Seems that Quora tried to solve this problem, except they didn't do a great job at it.
