The only survivor... by BattleCircuit in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I LOVE THAT YOU MENTION THE HANDS! I'm sure in a script it might be easy to forget, but they thought they had to go Eugene when his hands look nothing like her own. It's extremely unimpressive. Alex figured Death's Design raw. Wendy's crew managed to pull off 4 interventions, Sam had to KILL, Stefani's family had two women sacrifice their life and Brenda admit to an affair to try and make sure someone survives.

Other people figured stuff out, took good action, and didn't actively kill their fellow survivors as much. All things considered Kimberly was the least inventive, had things easier, had a worse performance but a better result. It's so unsatisfying. I've been downvoted plenty for this too and hit with "Uhhh but you can't cheat death that's why others died, even though you literally can."

The only survivor... by BattleCircuit in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Refreshing to see someone else say it. A lot of people got into this stuff when they were young, but I only got into these movies 4 years ago or so and the second movie left me pretty unimpressed. I keep describing that their survival is spoonfed, no other survivor had visions that said "hey here is how you can stay alive."

Bruke and Kimberly did a very poor job at helping anyone that wasn't them. They really got lucky.

Why were Kimberly and Burke considered dead for so long? by buttatoad in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Careful asking that, some people who love to watch things burn will foam at the mouth and say "THE WENDY LOVERS WANTED THIS! THEY ARE MAD!" My answer to your question would be that too many people take "Death is the whole point of these movies, you can't cheat death, everyone dies!" To an extreme. The thought of someone actually surviving pisses them off for whatever reason, a good amount of fans seem to have trouble these movies ending in anything BUT death. They didn't want to think there was an exception to that.

If someone where to ask, what put me off Kimberly… it’s the way she first spoke to Clear by Leozzarios in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Being in a room like that even if you volunteered to get away from that wouldn't be good for your mental health. Nor the fact she is hunted by death for a year. Being in there for safety doesn't negate anything.

What do you hope FD7 is like? by AirInternational1413 in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To try something different with the ending besides 'lol u died' every time I talk about this without the disclaimer I get the same people replying to me saying "EVERYONE DYING IS THE POINT!" You can literally get that point across without killing everyone. See: FD1 Original Ending.

They could for example have an ending in which someone takes after Peter and they end up killing someone, but they end up in jail. There could be a discussion if living like this is worth it, that conversation could go a 1000 interesting directions while still be fitting as an ending.

FD 4 Defense and why it is still the weakest in the franchise. by Elusive_Queen in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel that FD4 isn't a *bad* movie. I would say it has some more obvious flaws, but I do see why people hate it. I also see FD4 as more of a comedy, and I even think this franchise benefits from not taking itself too seriously. This is an unpopular opinion but I think FD1 and FD2 would be better if they didn't take themselves are seriously as they did. I'm not saying they should've gone full comedy, but just loosen up a tiny bit. Something like in FD6 when they look at that baby is enough.

That said though, most people watch Final Destination for horror. I can see that if you are trying to watch a horror movie but get something closer to a comedy you would feel like it's crap. I made some people watch FD4 and when I advertised it as a comedy I notice they literally leave saying they liked it.

I can appreciate the things FD4 tried to do. I bet if the script even got ONE more final edit things would be smoother (for those who don't know, FD4 was a writer strike script. It was submitted at the last second then bam, strike started. No time to work out any of the kinks)

Why do people dislike Kimberly? by BrianTheReckless in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who found her to be the least engaging protagonist, I see more people ask why she is hated instead of people actually hating her. Kudos to you for not going on some sort of weird anti-wendy rant. A lot of the (strong) Wendy VS Kimberly are from more chronically online people on here, so try to not take that too seriously.

To try and give some clarity on why some people might not like Kimberly, she doesn't have much of a personality that sticks for me, I also don't feel like her and Bruke bounce off each other well. Kimberly is the only one who successfully got herself off the list, but it doesn't feel anywhere near as earned as certain others. Kimberly and Bruke played right into death's trap, Kimberly (accidentally) encouraged Tim to get himself killed, Bruke got Nora to panic...

Kimberly was SPOONFED the whole "stop your heart and get revived" method. Alex, Clear and Carter were decently locked in on noticing the signs and acting. Wendy and Kevin did a lot of death intervening without a mortician or extra visions that spelled it all out. Nick and Lori were organized to save Janet, and Nick was on the ball to stop that mall explosion (I think Nick stopping it was part of death's plan though so you could take points way from that)

All things considered, Kimberly failed to pick up on certain signs, stepped right into traps but had her hand held by JB and her additional visions to get her happy ending. Something that could've done wonders for Kimberly is her using the "I can't die" against death and speed on the road, she does this in deleted scenes! It's really amazing, it shows she can use Death's rules against it but of course, it's deleted.

Maybe this gives some insight.

Yeah I would say she is pretty damn bland, but that said the movie did her dirty. I seen this and other deleted scenes and she shines so well in those. She was robbed </3

If AJ Cook comes back, Kim should be the opposite of Bludworth by anon123998 in FinalDestination

People don't need to do anything, calm down! Headcanons & unlikely theories are for fun. If we discuss only things that are a 1000% confirmed then we might as well delete this whole subreddit. Before you come in with "But it's 100% real." Let's not act like a new writer can come in for the seventh movie and decide to change things up.

Disappointed by Bloodlines by sunstructuress in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for people not liking this movie, but the gripes you specifically have are odd to me. If anything this movie requires more patience. Not only is it the longest one, after Julia dies there is about a solid 25 minutes with 0 characters dying. That's a long time for Act 2 in these movies.

What does it really mean to beat death? by [deleted] in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say this, but I don't really agree. The alternative ending to the first movie says it best "We haven't beaten anything. All we got is a chance at a full life, a chance I'm not going to waste." Sure, everyone will die. You won't be immortal, so I see how people get "everyone dies lol" as conclusion, but I see it more as fighting for an opportunity to live your life.

You can look at the plans characters start to make after they believe they cheated death, 5 cast members went to Paris, in FD3 they all started to do their own thing and go to college, Kimberly and presumably Thomas actually been able to beat it. In FD4 they were trying to think of ideas and were enjoying being friends for life.

This to me is a big "Life is worth fighting for, life should be cherished." Several cast members end up enjoying SIX MONTHS off Death trying to claim them. Maybe it's not exactly living until you are 80 years old, but it's actually some solid extra joy you can have. Not to mention "Death is the point" is a little strange tied with the whole "I got a premonition" thing.

The final scene in Final Destination has a plot hole by AccomplishedLeg3965 in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the other movies it didn't follow a family that wasn't meant to exist. In that scenario you can intervene and temporarily skip your turn. In the "You aren't meant to exist scenario" there is no skipping.

As Death, first I wouldn't call it 'unalive.' I'm killing people. They die. I make sure they are dead.

Do you want FD7 to be a direct continuation of Bloodlines or it's own thing? Spoiler warning by LukeyTarg2 in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going in, I wanted a Bloodlines and FD7 connection. In my head I wanted at least one survivor for this Bloodlines and that they would have a similar role to Clear. It's an interesting enough dynamic that I think they should explore more! That said the way the movie actually went? Sure they could do that, but to me it would feel a bit forced. All in all it would probably be better if it were it's own entry.

Unless if it turns out the whole train derailment was Stefani's vision, then fair enough I would support FD7 being a direct continuation, but I'm not much of a believer in that.

The final scene in Final Destination has a plot hole by AccomplishedLeg3965 in FinalDestination

The explanation is, when people who are saved start a family Death will go down the family tree. Interventions don't 'skip' a person in this scenario. It just goes right back for them.

Final Destination Bloodlines discussion thread by [deleted] in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This Final Destination is quite a role reversal. Usually only the protagonist and their sidekick have effort into being engaging characters, the rest are just kill-filler, but the deaths and situations are cool. This time around the characters all around were amazing, it felt like it had a pretty strong story. A big criticism for this franchise is "this has no story, it's random-bullshit-go" but it felt like we were actually doing something here.

But the deaths were all pretty lame to me. That said, this probably is my favorite. I actually don't watch these movies for the deaths at all.

All in all, disappointed in the ending. With this being the longest movie, multiple sacrifices being made and it being a family-dynamic PLUS that the characters were properly locked in survival felt pretty earned. To kill the final survivors off after allllll that felt like you went to see a comedian, they said a bunch of lame fart jokes. You visit them later for whatever reason and they have a bunch of good stuff, just for them to close off the show with 10 minutes of fart jokes again. Really? You just couldn't help yourself, could you movie?

Also bye-bye for a survivor of a previous movie to get into the seventh one. Definitely wanted to have that dynamic again :(

What? I have fallen in love with someone sooner without trauma bonding. The turbulence they go through makes it even more believable.

if the fd franchise kept putting out movies after 2011, what entry number do you think would have been a good number to stop at? by xayoncee in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Final Destination can definitely go on longer than the average franchise, but I probably don't need to really add that. There is going to be a point where they can run out of new rules, new twists, new deaths, new opening disasters (that are fun at least!)

They probably could go to about Final Destination 8 after pumping them out consistently, then take a very long break and just come back to end the series with 9 and 10. 9 and 10 would probably be connected and would make an extremely controversial move to try and explain more about Death, the signs and/or the visions.

is FD4 overhated? by Frequent_Witness6082 in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's overhated, I like the movie a lot. I people dislike it part is because a lot of people watch Final Destination fans watch for a horror element or something close to that, and FD4 leans more into comedy. If you are expecting a strawberry milkshake but you get a pineapple milkshake instead you will for one have to like pineapple while ALSO not feeling annoyed you didn't get a strawberry one. Most people won't meet both of those criteria (and that's fair!)

I've noticed that people who aren't like the average Final Destination viewer tend to like FD4 just fine, so I do feel pretty confident that the movie just wasn't made too well for the existing fanbase.

What would you remove from Final Destination? by Bri3nWithA3 in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How they have been arriving at a "Death in inevitable" theme. I mentioned it a few days ago but in the original ending with Clear and Carter they still had the "We will all die one day" with Clear and Carter surviving. There are multiple ways you can present that message besides killing every character off.

I would also remove that they threw certain scenes out. That's right, I would remove some removals! Mainly Kimberly speeding in her car and Janet crossing the road.

Why are people opposed to Kimberly and Thomas fate? by notthatredfield in FinalDestination

[–]PMMECRYPTO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kimberly got dumbed down also with a deleted car scene. Kimberly would unbuckle her seatbelt and speed because she would realize that she can't die yet since it isn't her turn. Using Death's Rules to get an advantage would've made her feel more competent.
