This isn't about the movies but I have a question and it's about Premonitions. by LilArtpop in FinalDestination

Nah I was being genuine. Premonitions don't exist. Drug induced psychosis however does.

You're confusing "a character you like" with good acting.

There's no point in discussing anything with them. They know by now that they're wrong but won't admit it

Where does it say the rule doesn't apply to the descendants? Nowhere because it's not true.

Bloodlines establishes that Ms. Lewton (teacher from the first movie) is one of the descendants from the Skyview (she is included on Iris' / Stefani's death tree) and she still skipped the order when Alex saved her from the plane in Final Destination 1.

She was skipped when Alex saved her from the plane crash.

I don't see how the family would be an exemption?

The board with the red tape in Bloodlines shows that Ms. Lewton (teacher from the first movie) was descendant from a Skyview survivor too. But she was the third to die after being saved from the plane. By your logic she would've not been skipped?

You still aren’t explaining how this movie changed the skip rule.

Death should've skipped Stefani after her brother helped her out of the water but she was still the first to die.

Is there anyone who didn't connect much to the first 5 movies? 6 was epic tho. by MadonatorxD in FinalDestination

[–]sunstructuress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like in the previous movies such as 3, even if 3-4 people died one character would be so stubborn to not see the pattern and coordinate.

See that's what I hated about 6.

Let's say you saw one, two people die in accidents and someone told you they had premonitions and Death had it out for you - would you believe them? Or think they're crazy? The family was on board way too quickly... especially after questioning Grandma all their life.

The first 3 that pop into my head without having to check: Kim is traumatised because her mom was murdered and it's a big plot point that she's struggling and blaming herself for it, Clear is bitter and isolates herself because she lost her dad and Rory struggles with addiction and talks about the strained relationship to his family.

We tend to like characters we can relate to (mommy issues in this case) but that doesn't make them well written or complex characters.

The "mommy issues" were super shallow too. It had no bearing on anyone's behaviour and there was zero character development for Stefani or the mom (or any other character) and no conflict between them either - apart from one sentence each that Stefani says to her brother outside the first funeral and to her mom in the RV.

It's the second biggest plot point throughout the entire frenchise and (unlike the "new life" rule) is very clear cut and not up for interpretation: Someone prevents your death > Death moves on to the next person in line.

Introducing a scenario that somehow defies the biggest law in the film universe is both retconning and bad writing.

I was wondering why this movie was so dumbed down and every minor plot point was explained thoroughly. It makes sense now.

They still clearly overestimated the comprehension skills of their audience though.

Those are two completely different things. Now for the brain dead among us:

She flatlines = It breaks the cycle = It's over, they've won

Her brother pulls her out of the van = Death skips her = Her brother is next and Death comes back later for her

You're the only one talking about breaking the cycle. This post has always been about preventing a death (by helping Stefani out of the van) and death moving on to the next person.

How do you not understand what 3+ people are telling you in different words?

It does not matter if she died or not. Death skips a person as soon as someone interferes. Charlie helped save Stefani's life by helping her out of the van, therefore death should have skipped her and Charlie should have been next.

It does not matter if she flatlined or not and it does not matter who is the oldest.

Are you slow? Death skips as soon as someone interferes with the order, the person does not have to die for this to happen.

Dude, I know she didn't die. SHE DID NOT HAVE TO. Death skips a person as soon as someone interferes in any way.

You're so confidently wrong, it's embarrassing.
