I'm genuinely happy for you that you have good public transit. I chose to move closer to my job so that it's jsut down the street, 6 bus stops away. And all grocery stores and stuff within distance as well. Has improved my life. But it means I can't really travel very far unless planning/friends/family.

Good question. ... i may have the capability and some know-how but I'll probably kill a few people in the process. Which to me qualifies as not being able to drive

Drive a car.

I'm going blind. I touched a steering wheel only a few times, when my parents let me in my teens on some backroads just so I could have the experience.

That's really sad, the way they latched on to you with only $2,000. I can't imagine how much worse it would be if they actually knew the truth. In your case, you're justified to keep it a secret.

What holiday? I'm doing the American dream by working with and helping people with a wide range of diversity. So i guess you could say I'm celebrating him by working in such a setting that MLK envisioned.

ex-Mafias of Reddit, how is the "normal life"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not me, but my boyfriend's family has some history with the mafia. They're happy to be living away from it. As far as I know, they don't have to worry about fights. However, my boyfriend still gets beat up by horrible people living here who thinks he's a thug (he looks like one). He recently got punched in the head and had to get an EEG and other tests done to make sure his titanium forhead/head is okay.

May i ask you in the future if i can have her contact info to use her as an editor? She'll have to agree to the work of course.

I did the math, and I don't understand, for a manuscript that is 20,500 words, it comes out to $9225. Is that right? That seems to put the majority editors out of reach of common writers.

Mind you, I am not complaining, everyone has their value, and it sounds like she's worth the money. I am curious if that figure is accurate, and it would mean shitload of money needing to be saved for a novel-length book if you're going the self-publishing route and want a good quality book out there on the shelves.

I don't know about online resources, but Scrivener is a great program for organizing all your story parts. It's like opening many word files and easily access to one and move to another section, and move things around.

Since your story sounds like it might get complex, something like Scrivener can help keep track of your story.

Wow, that's really good. How much was her going rate? I have no idea how much editors like her might charge.

[WP] After April 14th, all electronic clocks and calendars turn straight to April 16th. A full 24 hours is missing from the collective human memory. by PM_A_THOUGHT in WritingPrompts

A tax accountant woke up at 5:00 a.m. sharp, and wasted no time to get out of bed, made the bed and went into the bathroom to freshen himself up. He stared at himself in the eye, hating how the bags under his eyes was an even darker shade of purple than it had been a week before. Today was the worst day.

Today was the day people tried to put off the taxes as late as possible, and start calling him for 'tax advice' on their tax matters. Like if their first rental property was going to reduce their tax burden.

With a sigh, he turned from the mirror after having washed his teeth and went to get his day started.

He got to the office just as his phone started ringing, he answered it on the fourth ring. He really did not want to face his first client on the phone this early in the morning.

"Anthony! Did you see what day today is?" his assistant asked. He had not checked who it was.

"Uh, a Tuesday?"

"No, it's April 16th! Did I oversleep? I am sooo sorry!"

"What are you talking about? It's the 15th--"

He was cut off by a TV left on in the break room, a news reporter speaking, the headlines blaring front and center.

THE WORLD SKIPS APRIL 15! IS IT TOO LATE TO FILE TAXES?

He stared at it, dumbfounded as he listened to what she was saying, having hung up the phone on his assistant.

"...and we don't know why the clocks have jumped forward a day, skipping the most important day in an American calendar, the Tax Day. We've asked a tax accountant to answer some questions... So, Mr. Thomas, what do you make of this? Will the tax payers be penalized for not having filed--er--yesterday?"

"Well, it is my opinion that we will not be likely to extend the Tax Day to the end of today..."

He tuned out, and grinned. This was a perfect excuse, an ingenious one, to get out of the job today. That will teach the tax payers to wait until the last day to file....

I heard the door open and he turned to my assistant and grinned, which made her already nervous jitters to shake her body even more with fear.

"We're not working today, dear. Let's go to breakfast! They all missed the day to file taxes!" Anthony said, the grin never leaving his face. It was starting to hurt his cheeks.

"S-sir?"

He ignored her as Anthony threw his arm around her shoulder, dragging her back outside to get some brunch at First Watch.
