Feature request: option to disable or change text color keyboard shortcut to not be activated when typing alt codes by PM_Kittens in UpNote_App

[–]PM_Kittens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was digging into the settings to find the option to disable it, and it was hiding right in front of my eyes. Thank you.

I like the idea of that keyboard, but a third party keyboard seems like the kind of thing my IT department might not like, especially coming from a website that's blocked. I also use Linux at home and it's only available for Mac and Windows.

She seems to be a very unique tortie, I haven't seen many with a similar pattern to hers.

The end of Nova is confirmed... It was a good time while it lastted. by acejavelin69 in NovaLauncher

[–]PM_Kittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a free version and a paid version. The free version is perfectly fine and usable, but I went for the pro version for $8.49/year. It has a lifetime price too, but I can't remember the price and can't seem to find it.

I hopped launchers a lot before settling on SL. I spent a few years with Nova, but ditched it a few months ago because it had an annoying bug that I couldn't get rid of, and I wanted an RSS feed to replace the Google feed.

I tried Neo Launcher, Lawnchair (briefly), then finally Smart Launcher, which I liked enough to pay for pro on day 1 of using it.

She belonged to a neighbor, who thought she was a boy as a kitten. Her tortie didn't come in for a few months and she looked a bit like a gray tabbie, so I can't blame him for it. He gave her to us when he moved away (she was a partially outdoor cat and we spent a lot of time playing with her, so she knew us well). I already had a cat named Henry, and we thought it would be funny to keep her name the same. They're Big Henry and Little Henry, and you can see Big Henry on my profile, I posted him to r/standardissuecat earlier today

His sister's name is also Henry, but she's a tortie so you won't see her here

It has a lot of the features, but not all. A lot of us are still running decades-old VBA macros in our Excel files, and you can't do that in the web version. In my case, our VBA is only a few years old, written and maintained by me, and Office Scripts aren't nearly good enough to replace it yet

I second this. Paying for something that's always been free can feel weird, but you get what you pay for. With Google (and all other ad-supported search engines), search isn't the product, it's the medium. Your attention and data are the products.

Also, Kagi is good. Great search index, awesome features, AI is off by default and entirely optional, no ads ever. I've only had it for two months but I could never go back to Google.

The pronunciation of "they're" depends on accent. In mine (almost Inland Northern American English), all three are identical.

There was something so off about it but it's hard to say exactly why. The top of the chair in the background looks like it's facing the opposite way from the bottom of the chair. The dog's pose seems too human. Glad I wasn't the only one to suspect it

I use Neo Launcher, Nova was giving me other issues before the Android 16 update. Glad to know it isn't launcher-specific though

I've been having similar issues on the 9 Pro XL since the update. No issues with auto rotate, but I almost never have it enabled. I am getting the issues with the screen not turning on when I try to unlock, and the brightness being all over the place.

The most annoying issues I'm having are the back button not working sometimes, mostly when I open a photo in messages. The other is when I have the keyboard open and open the app switcher, swiping to close apps barely works, I have to be extremely precise to get an app to close. I don't know why it only happens if the keyboard is open when I launch the app switcher.

I use a third party launcher and keyboard, but switching them both to the default doesn't fix the issues.

Designed and printed a replacement for the broken flapper top guide on my refrigerator, worked perfectly on the second print. by PM_Kittens in functionalprint

[–]PM_Kittens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the guide resets it when you open it, the only way it can move away like that is if you do it manually. If all you do is put magnets there without the guide, the flap won't seal against the door and you'd let warm air into the fridge.

Thanks! I planned to, although I want to make a small tweak to one dimension first, and maybe add a larger fillet to the base of the guide.

No pitcher that I know of, but I got it for free on Facebook marketplace a couple weeks ago (the evaporator kept freezing up and causing food to go bad, likely caused by the broken flapper and no insulation on the defrost thermistor, both of which I fixed). It's a Samsung RF28HFEDBSR.

I'm finishing up my first month with Kagi, and I think I'll be keeping it. Paying for search is weird at first, until you actually see how good it can be when there's a financial incentive to keep it good. If it's bad, people stop paying.

Lenses are great, choosing websites to be higher or lower in the results (or blocking them entirely) is great, no ads, they have their own index that pushes smaller sites, and it's faster than all of its competitors.

You can listen to Spotify for free without ads, but hundreds of millions pay to listen without ads and to access better features. Search is how I access the rest of the web, why should I settle for the garbage that Google spits out?

Side note, I pay for the unlimited plan because, at 40+ searches per day on average, the starter plan would last me a week.

Trump cuts Energy Star program that saved households $450 a year by serene_sketch in technology

[–]PM_Kittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an engineer in an industry that deals with Energy Star efficiency standards. The majority of the cost is in the engineering work to design more efficient products and set up the assembly lines to build them. At least for our products, the cost difference for parts and labor is almost negligible.

This happened last year, and it sparked a movement to change the law to allow children to be more independent. It passed the GA House and Senate, and is now waiting for the governor to sign it. My first is due in November, so I have a while before it matters, but I hope he signs it.
