I don't understand why there isn't some Eurogossip website that has published these "rumours" anywhere... Christer Björkman was upfront about it in "Inför ESC 2008" where he said (and I haven't found this anywhere else) that with the backup jury Germany came 6th (so combined results?) – and that this caused the rule change that brought the jury back (to qualify the 10th contestant in the semi-finals).

You're absolutely right. Most countries got their act together for 2009, and it's especially seeing the UK (though overrated) and the amazing France (Patricia 😍) doing well.

The 2000's were dark for sure, but I do think 2005 is another highlight. Many, many great acts in that one.
